RAIN OF VARYING INTENSITY ARRIVES THIS MORNING, FLOOD WATCHES CONTINUE…ANY RAIN DEPARTS 2-4PM…FAIR WEATHER EXPECTED THRU THURS… COOLER / WETTER PATTERN CHANGE POSSIBLE NEXT WEEKEND

Good morning folks, low pressure is passing east along the southern New England coastline this morning near Long Island and will continue to push periods of varying-intensity rainfall through the region with some downpours at times, especially south of the Pike this morning.

Areas of street flooding where heavy rain falls is probable, and some isolated instances of flash flooding are possible anywhere from Hartford County east through northeast CT and up into southern CMass points east as our system pulls east through the morning.

We’ve already received a third up to a full inch or so of rainfall in northern MA up into SVT / SWNH, and more is on the way through early to mid afternoon.

Between 2-4pm, we should see rainfall clear the region from west to east, and highs will climb into the upper 60s to mid 70s with lows in the 50s as humidity persists.

In addition, a cold front will be tracking into the region overnight tonight, and that should push a few more scattered showers through for good measure, ending by the Monday morning commute.

Thereafter, a 4-day fair weather stretch should be delivered to us thanks to an incoming 1030mb high pressure cell that first produce much drier and a bit cooler conditions for Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 60s to low 70s for highs under increasing sunshine Monday and full sunshine Tuesday.

In fact, some areas may not even 60º in parts of SVT for a #FullFallFeel.

That’s a Triple F, folks… which makes it 4 Fs!

Along those lines, temps will become COLD for this time of year Monday night, dipping into the upper 30s to mid 40s for lows, and I can’t rule out a few mid 30s readings in SVT or the “hollers” of far northwest MA!

By Wednesday, that high pressure cell will push east and off of the coastline swinging our atmospheric flow around and out of the south, which will warm us up Wednesday and Thursday, and increase humidity as well.

Highs Wednesday will reach the 70s to low 80s each day under mostly sunny skies, save for a spot shower Thursday afternoon or evening in the hilltowns, with lows in the 55-60º range.

Things get a bit murky by Friday into next weekend, but some showers will be possible during that timeframe. A cold front likely produces those showers, but as of now, a break in the action could come Saturday before more prolonged cool and wet weather may visit our shores starting next Sunday into the following work week.

However, that’s a long way away, so take it with not 1, not 2, but 3 grains of salt!

Have a great day!
