MILD AND SUNNY TODAY WITH A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS OVERNIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING, BREEZY AT TIMES… COLD FRONT BRINGS MAIN AREA OF SHOWERS THROUGH VERY LATE SUNDAY MORNING THRU 5PM
Good morning folks, your under-The-Weather-Nut is still nursing a cold, probably due in part to the busy winter which seems to make one last icy cheek peck Monday night into Tuesday morning as one more Clipper in the old winter pattern is set to traverse the region with some snow showers during that period.
For today, the pick of the weekend has arrived. Expect partly to mostly sunny skies, highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s, and perhaps a few isolated showers by this evening as a back door cold front tries to cool us from the east as a warm front presses northeast towards us from our southwest.
Lows tonight will bottom out into the mid 30s to low 40s with a few more scattered showers possible Sunday morning.
Thereafter, southerly gusts may pick up for a bit into mid-day, at which time our cold front will slice through the region bringing a more organized cluster of rain showers after highs top out either side of 60º.
Sunday afternoon looks showery at this point, followed by northwest wind gusts in the evening and lowering temps into the upper 20s to mid 30s for lows, along with a couple Berkshire snow showers possible.
Monday looks lovely, though cooler with highs in the 40s to near 50 under mostly sunny skies, followed by increasing clouds.
In this brief cold advection pattern which peaks Monday night through Tuesday night, a weak Clipper system will dive southeast as we’ve seen so many times this past winter.
This will push some light snow showers into the region Monday night into Tuesday morning, at which time rain may mix in over the valley or southern areas like northern CT.
I can’t rule out some very light accumulations on grassy surfaces in the Berkshires, western hilltowns, SVT and northwest CT, but it won’t last.
Partly sunny skies develop later Tuesday afternoon with highs in the upper 30s and 40s, followed by unseasonably cold lows in the upper teens to mid 20s – that Wednesday morning dog walk is gonna be cold!!
After that, a longer period of fair weather looks to build in through the end of the week, and possibly into next weekend with steadily warming temps and increasing sunshine, landing in the low to mid 60s by Friday.
Have a great day!
