SEESAW WEATHER CONTINUES: MILD AGAIN TODAY WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS AT TIMES BEGETTING STEADIER SHOWERS THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT AS COLDER AIR DRAINS INTO OUR REGION FOR THURSDAY…
Good morning everybody, we had some rockin’ and rollin’ last night, an event that essentially marked the death of the Winter of 2025-26 and the birth of the Spring of 2026. Life keeps rolling along, and the seasons keep shifting, and the cycles keep cycling. And in our case, the ends of our meteorological seesaw will be alternately slapping the ground over the next several days.
We really only have two additional rounds of streadier rainfall or showers to move through over the next 6 or 7 days, and the first one is this evening with a shortwave passing through, and the second one is Sunday evening with a cold front sweeping through.
For today, we’ll see some breaks and periods of sunshine with clouds mixed in and a few spot showers at times with highs well into the 60s to low 70s. If we get more sun than expected, maybe it gets into the mid 70s or some of us.
Clouds will increase later today with the approach of another shortwave along this huge thermal boundary running west-to-east across the northeastern half of the country.
This will push steadier and more numerous showers into our region after dinner time and into early Thursday morning.
At the same time, high pressure will be tracking east through Ontario and into Quebec tonight into Thursday, which will shove the back door front that flirted with SWNH and CMass yesterday all the way through the greater WMass region late tonight and Thursday, cooling us way down.
In fact, some high terrain areas of northern MA, SVT and SWNH could see some light showers of sleet or sleet mixed with rain during the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning, and into Thursday with highs only in the mid 30s to mid 40s.
So, prepare for a raw Thursday!
Lows Thursday night will drop into the 30s but then a potent Great Lakes low will track northeast into Canada, and pick up that front and swing it northeast through our region as a warm front for Friday, which will send most of the precip with it, drying us out for the most part Friday through Saturday evening with warmer highs well into the 60s Friday (lows near 50º) and into the low to mid 70s under mostly sunny skies for Saturday, which is the weekend pick, in my opinion.
A few more showers are possible Saturday night into Sunday morning, but Sunday looks warm again with highs well into the 60s, but with clouds increasing and southwest gusts of 25-40mph ahead of an incoming cold front.
That front will bring widespread rainfall Sunday night into early Monday morning, followed by northwest gusts to 30mph and cooler temps in the 40s on Monday with a few Berkshire lake effect snow showers possible during late Sunday night and late Monday night.
Have a great day!

YOUR NUTSHELL:
–A few morning showers south of the Pike, then mixed sun and clouds day
–Highs well into the 60s, with a spot shower here and there, some valley areas pierce 70º
–Clouds increase late afternoon, and another shortwave brings a period of showers and rain this evening, tapering to showers during Thursday morning
–Temps drop behind a back door cold front tonight, lows bottom out in the 30s
–Some light sleet or freezing rain showers may form in far northwest MA and the southern Greens of VT Thursday morning
–Highs Thursday will be cold, in the mid 30s to mid 40s, and some isolated mixed sleet/rain showers will be possible at times, though mostly dry
–Lows Thursday night again in the 30s
–A strong Great Lakes Low will track northeast and push that frontal boundary northeast and back thru the WMass region as a warm front
–This means Friday highs soar into the 60s again with lows in the low 50s and only a spot shower possible
–Saturday looks like the weekend pick with highs in the low to mid 70s under partly to mostly sunny skies with some showers possible by evening
–Sunday gets gusty as high pressure to our southeast teams up with another Great Lakes low dragging a cold front our way
–Gusts out of the southwest rise to 25-40mph at times, and temps will be well into the 60s to low 70s for highs
–Rain moves in during the evening with the cold front, and we turn cooler and blustery for a time on Monday with highs in the 40s to 50º
–I can’t rule out a few Berkshire lake effect snow showers in the cold advection pattern early in the morning or late at night
