PATCHY FOG THIS MORNING, SCATTERED SHOWERS TODAY AND TONIGHT, VERY MILD… COOLER, WINDIER, DRIER FOR THANKSGIVING DAY WITH BERKSHIRE SNOW SHOWERS...

Good morning folks, most of us saw a third up to about three-quarters of an inch of rainfall overnight and now that we’re behind the warm front, our temps are very mild for a late November morning – in the 40s to low/mid 50s!

We can expect temps to spike into the 50s today, with some low 60s expected in the CT River Valley floor, especially from about Northampton south through to Hartford.

Patchy fog this morning will burn off as we lift our temps up and away from the dew point temperatures, and we’ll see mostly cloudy skies with a few showers from time to time, but I expect we’ll be mostly just damp and cloudy with light southerly flow.

By this evening, a cold front will be approaching the region and will push a band of heavier showers through the area, so some more rainfall is on the way for many of us, but it should be shorter in duration with bits of heavier intensity compared to last night. Lows will drop into the low to mid 30s, and it’ll get breezy out of the southwest overnight.

For Thanksgiving Day, a mostly sunny day should develop with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s. As we dry out, winds will kick up and gust 20-35mph at times during the day, so it’ll be blustery and cooler and most travelin’ folks will be needin’ to bundle.

Wind will continue at night and while most of us will remain dry, a few lake effect snow showers or flurries may start to build into the Taconics, Berkshires and Litchfield Hills later at night with lows dropping into the mid to upper 20s.

Friday looks like a blustery day with highs in the 30s under partly sunny skies. Gusts are expected again to reach the 20-35mph range, and possibly reaching 40mph at times which could drop wind chills into the upper 20s for some folks. We’ll also have a better chance for lake effect snow showers coating some parts of the Berkshires/Taconics, western hilltowns, northwest CT and/or SVT, but we’ll have to see where the best banding sets up on the day of.

Lows Friday will dip to the low to mid 20s, and Saturday will be the sunniest of the two weekend days with highs only in the 30s as wind slackens, but continues to gust up to 20mph at times. Lows will bottom out in the upper teens to mid 20s.

By the time we get to Sunday, we’ll see return southerly flow develop, pushing highs back up and well into the 40s as clouds increase ahead of another incoming warm front. This will bring more rainfall by late Sunday, and especially Sunday night into early Monday with a chance at some late-night flip to snow or ice in the mountains of VT or far northwest MA.

We dry out on Monday with highs in the 40s, but by Tuesday or Wednesday we should see colder air working into the region as another storm may be pushing out of the Tennessee Valley toward the Mid-Atlantic coastline.

It’s too early for any certainty AT ALL, but the potential does exist for more of us to see our first accumulating snowfall by the middle of next week, so I will keep an eye on that storm signals and update you.

December may be coming in cold and stormy, and regardless of what happens I will keep you and yours in the know every step of the way!

In other news, my mobile app is getting close for resubmission to the App Store, so wish me luck in getting an approval so I can start to get on your phones as another way to reach you with my weather reporting. I look forward to your feedback so I can improve on it over time.

Have a great day!
