MILD TEMPS EARLY FOLLOWED BY COLDER AIR, WIND, AND A FEW SCATTERED MIXED SHOWERS OR A SQUALL LATER AFTERNOON… WINDS PEAK BY FRIDAY MORNING… BELOW ZERO WIND CHILL FOR SOME…

Good morning folks, it’s well into the 30s this morning with patchy fog around, but that will dissipate with time and final showers will lift northeast and out of here before noon.

At any point this afternoon, an isolated shower of rain, graupel, or snow will be possible as colder air starts to work into the region, but not before mild highs reach the upper 30s to low/mid 40s.

As our cold front pushes into the region, wind will pick up and gust 20-30mph this afternoon and evening, and a snow shower or squall is possible. Any squalls can drop a quick coating to an inch in localized spots.

Temps will fall this afternoon and bottom out during out blustery night into the single digits to teens, with winds picking up and gusting 25-40mph for Friday morning. This will drive wind chills down into the single digits below and above zero, with very cold conditions in the high terrain west of the I-91 corridor by early Friday morning… blustery!

Friday looks sunny, cold, and windy, with westerly gusts up to 25-40mph, slackening later in the day. Highs will only reach the mid 20s to low 30s, with lows in the teens as clouds increase ahead of another shortwave.

After midnight, light snow should develop for many areas in WMass, CMass and northern CT, and a coating to 2” of new snow is expected by noon on Saturday when temps will be pushing over the freezing mark.

This should cause any final bands of light snow to either not stick or flip to plain rain before ending. Highs will reach the mid to upper 30s with lows in the 20s as we start to dry out.

Sunday will feature a coastal storm developing (the southern moist piece of energy) but the northern piece along with a cold front and colder air likely will not phase with the coastal piece, which will keep it shunted east and out to sea for the most part.

There’s still a low chance for some snow east of I-91 Sunday night into Monday, so I will keep an eye on it, but I’m not overly enthused about it becoming an impactful setup at the moment.

Highs Sunday reach the low to mid 30s with lows in the teens as another cold front swings through, kicking up more cold breezes.

This will set us up for next week, which to be honest looks quite cold and blustery at times, albeit dry with plenty of sunshine, so if you like cold and sun, have I got a week for you to look forward to!!

Remember to hold the door for someone today, and I hope things go well for you.
