SCATTERED SHOWERS, DOWNPOURS OR THUNDERSTORMS AFTER 7PM WITH ISOLATED CELLS 3-7PM TODAY… STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND HAIL POSSIBLE IN SPOTS… HUMID TODAY AND FRIDAY… NICE WEEKEND...

Good morning folks, remember that we have a (Mostly) Full Lunar Eclipse tonight that peaks around midnight (12:12am) but many of us will be prevented from seeing it due to cloud cover from a passing cold front that’s set to push some showers and thunderstorms through our region this evening. I think folks in Vermont and parts of the Berkshires (west of I-91) have the best viewing chance, so if you’re up late look to the east-southeast!

As for our weather today, we’ve got some patchy fog and some of it was dense up near Keene, NH at the 6am hour. This will burn off with time and reveal a partly sunny day on average.

A warm front will be tracking northeast this morning and push through by early afternoon or so, with humidity increasing and highs reaching the mid 70s to low 80s.

Once we get into the warm sector and its more humid air mass, some isolated showers, downpours or thunderstorms will develop in the 3pm – 7pm timeframe and hit a few areas, but miss many others, and it’s not possible to know exactly where that will take place. Keep an ear/eye out generally to the western, and probably the southwestern sky.

However, once we get past 7pm, a cold front will start to approach eastern NY and this should help to fire larger clusters of showers, downpours and thunderstorms which will track east-northeast into and through the greater WMass region.

A couple storms may produce strong gusty winds capable of producing localized wind damage, hail, and street flooding. While a weak tornado is possible, it’s highly unlikely to occur, but something I’ll monitor and update you about.

This activity moves through by about midnight and clearing will start to develop toward that time, which means many of us (especially along/east of the I-91 corridor) will probably miss out on the Lunar Eclipse reaching totality just after midnight.

Lows tonight will drop into the low to mid 60s with patchy fog possible late into early Friday morning.

For Friday, our front continues to track east and away, but another low center may develop along it as that happens, which could regenerate some scattered showers mainly east of the I-91 corridor by Friday mid-day into the afternoon.

In the meantime, drier air will be working towards the greater WMass region as the afternoon wears on with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

This drier air really arrives in a whoosh overnight with lows in the 50s, which will set us up for a gorgeous weekend.

Saturday through Monday look quite nice with highs either side of 80º all 3 days, lows in the 55-60º range, rain-free, and with much lower humidity, so all outdoor plans as of this writing are a go for the weekend!

While the weekend looks sunnier, Monday looks cloudier, especially by afternoon as a frontal boundary starts to press down from northern New England.

This could introduce a few showers by late Monday night into our region, and at the moment the Tuesday and Wednesday timeframe looks unsettled and probably will feature periods of showers and thunderstorms with highs in the 70s, provided the frontal boundary sags far enough south to settle over us and suppress developing heat over the Mid-Atlantic states to our south.

I will keep you updated on next week’s weather, and of course any developments this afternoon and evening, and will check back in with you.

Have a great day!
