HUMID TODAY, SOME SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON / EVE, THEN DRIER FRI. / SAT… RAW & COOL SUNDAY SOAKER TRENDING AS AUTUMN ARRIVES NEXT WEEK ASTRONOMICALLY & METEOROLOGICALLY… FALL FEEL!

Good morning folks, we had a mild night last night with many seeing lows in the low to mid 60s and humid conditions, with our humidity only expected to rise more today, peaking with dewpoint temps in the low 70s for some later! After today’s warmth, humidity, and afternoon / evening scattered showers, we’ve got notable changes in the weather pattern coming up this weekend through next week as our first seasonal step-down into Autumn arrives right on time.

For today, we’re starting off with no real fog to speak of, but it’s humid, saturated, and mostly cloudy and will stay that way all day long. Highs are expected to reach the mid 70s to low 80s (though likely hang mostly in the 70s due to cloud cover).

A shortwave and cold front will be tracking towards New England by mid-day, and it looks like we’ll see two main areas of showers: one mostly in the northern half of MA into SVT and SWNH between about 3-11pm, and then another one into northern CT and perhaps northward up to the level of MassPike around sunset into the early pre-dawn hours.

If this pattern plays out, someone between those two clusters may see little no rain (perhaps between the MA/CT border up to just south of Rt. 2).

All this to say, today’s system is not an overall big rain producer, but a few downpours are possible, so isolated spikes of an inch of rain are in the cards for just a couple areas, whereas most of us end up with maybe a tenth to a third of an inch of rainfall.

Lows tonight will hang in the upper 50s to mid 60s as drier air starts to work in very late, and more into Friday morning when some northwesterly gusts will kick up to 15-25mph at times behind the cold front.

Sunshine will be increasing after any morning clouds, and highs will climb into the low to mid 70s as dewpoints begin to lower, with a real drop in humidity by Friday night as lows tumble into the 40s for lows.

Saturday is by far the pick of the weekend! Mostly sunny skies, but cooler, with highs in the mid to upper 60s as high pressure builds in out of Canada. Saturday night lows will hang in the 40s as clouds increase ahead of our Sunday storm system, with humidity starting to creep up.

On Sunday, we’ll probably start off dry in the early morning, but sometime by mid to late morning showers will move into the region, and this system has the potential to provide a soaking rainfall with over an inch of rain for some of us.

In addition, looks quite cool and overcast with highs only reaching the upper 50s to mid 60s, so if I were you I’d be planning what soup I’m gonna put on the stove for that day, because it’s gonna feel like Fall, folks! Sunday night lows will drop into the 45-50º range.

Behind that system, which will depart Sunday night sometime, we have a massive, sprawling, cool Canadian high pressure system that is going to drop into southeast Ontario, southern Quebec and northern New England by Monday into much of next week.

This represents a pattern-change, and our first Autumnal step-down right as the Autumnal Equinox swings through our region on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 8:04 PM.

After a breezy Monday, we should see sunny skies persisting for much of the week with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.

Summah has started to ebb, my friends! Have a great day!
