HEAVIER SHOWERS ABATE THIS MORNING, WITH A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS EACH AFTERNOON THRU FRIDAY, GRAUPEL POSSIBLE… A LOVELY FALL WEEKEND LIES AHEAD...
Good morning folks, the heaviest rain from our overnight frontal passage is exiting eastern central MA as the dawn breaks, but more scattered morning showers are developing and tracking northeast through our region, through about 10am. After that we should dry out more, and we can expect one final day with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s.
Going forward, a series of upper troughs will help deliver more mid-Autumn high temps in the 50s (and sometimes in the mid to upper 40s in the coming couple of weeks) as we step down into deeper Autumn with November (and Halloween’s ghouls, ghosts, and goblins!) lurking around the corner. BOO!
As for later this afternoon (and Thursday and Friday afternoon, for that matter) we’ll be dealing with some scattered instability showers, and a few heavier cells may drop some graupel (i.e. ice-encased snowflakes that crumble when they hit the ground, a/k/a “soft hail”).
We’ll also see some sunny breaks later, and we can expect partly sunny skies for Thursday and Friday with building clouds each afternoon as the upper trough passes east through New England.
Lows tonight will bottom out in the mid 30s to low 40s under partly cloudy skies.
Highs Thursday and Friday will reach the upper 40s to upper 50s both days with lows in the mid to upper 30s Thursday night and the upper 20s to mid 30s Friday night.
The weekend looks brighter as high pressure dives down from Canada behind the departing upper trough to our east, but it will be even cooler.
Expect partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 40s to mid 50s each day, with lows in the mid 20s to mid 30s each night, and the same will probably hold true for next Monday as well.
By Tuesday, we may be dealing with onshore flow as high pressure passes northeast of us and that could increase our cloud cover as well as produce some showers in eastern parts of the greater WMass region (central MA, northeast CT), but I will update you as we get closer.
Have a great day!
