A FINAL DAY OF BREEZINESS THEN CALMER, SUNNIER, AND SLIGHTLY MILDER… SCATTERED SHOWERS ON FRIDAY INTO FRIDAY NIGHT, OTHERWISE DRY THROUGH THANKSGIVING
Good morning folks, we can expect largely peace-in-the-valley weather to be on the way after our blustery first shot of winter is clears the region today after that pair of giant upper lows that brought accumulating snowfall to many areas in southern VT, the Berkshires, western hilltowns, Taconics of eastern NY, and even lower elevation parts of WMass, CMass and northern CT saw some first coatings, and first “air snow”!
It was cold, blustery, and snowy, and it certainly falls in line with some early signals I am seeing for this upcoming winter, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
The bottom line for today, is that that first wintry bout is exiting the region, and we’ll get a reprieve in the greater WMass region through until after Thanksgiving, when the next big storm signal is lining up (roughly sometime around Nov. 29th or 30th).
For today, we’ll see some breezy conditions today before the looser pressure gradient over NY and PA sweeps into our region by tonight, slackening the wind for a while.

Highs will reach the upper 30s to mid 40s under partly to mostly sunny skies with wind chills at times in the 30s, and lows in the 20s tonight under partly cloudy skies.
On Wednesday, high pressure continues to nose eastward towards New England, helping to suppress a weak Mid-Atlantic system to our south (though northern CT could see some more clouds from that system, even if no rain is expected). Highs will reach the low to mid 40s under mostly sunny skies north of the Pike, and partly sunny south of there, with lows in the 20s once again.
On Thursday, we’ll be brighter earlier in the day, with more partly sunny skies by afternoon as our next system pushes out of the Great Lakes towards northern NY. We will cloud up Thursday night and may see a few rain or snow showers overnight with lows in the low 30s, and then we can expect scattered showers on Friday into Friday night as that system passes north of us.
I’m still uncertain as to who sees more or less rain, but either way, this looks like a weak frontal passage, so I will update you as we get closer. Highs Friday should rise into the mid 40s to low 50s, with lows in the low to mid 30s.
Beyond that, our weekend is shaping up to be a nice one with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 40s, with lows in the mid to upper 20s, lasting into Monday, and right now, Thanksgiving is looking uneventful weather-wise, but I will keep you updated.
Have a great day!
