ONE MORE VERY WARM DAY THEN BACK DOWN WE GO… FRIDAY NIGHT INTO FIRST PART OF SATURDAY LOOKING COOL AND SHOWERY FOR MANY OF US… DRYING PROBABLE BY SATURDAY LATE AFTERNOON AND EVE
Good morning folks, we’re still corkscrewing through Space because as we orbit our star, our entire solar system is orbiting the Milky Way Galaxy as the entire galaxy is careening through Space – that’s a lot of moving parts! Fortunately for us, we don’t have a ton of meteorologically-moving parts to produce any sort of seriously impactful weather, but we do have a couple of things to discuss, so in we dive.
For today, we’ve got a final day of unseasonable warmth to work through due to a departing upper ridge well south of us along with an associated surface-based high pressure center well east of the Carolinas.
These fair weather features will push warmth on southerly flow into the greater WMass region, and push high temps mostly into the upper 70s to upper 80s from high terrain to the valley by this afternoon. Despite a mostly cloudy start, I do expect a partly sunny day to develop.
I can’t rule out an isolated shower or even a garden variety thunderstorm, but most of us will stay dry. Lows will drop into the upper 40s to mid 50s behind the mostly-dry cold front that will pass through.
For our Thursday, we should see more clouds than sun as a weak wave works through the region with an isolated shower or two possible as highs reach a more seasonable upper 60s to mid 70s range, followed by lows in the 45-50º range.
On Friday, a more potent but compact little upper low system will dive southeast into northern New England and track over EMass, bringing similar high temps to Thursday, but also more clouds and periods of showers by Friday evening.
The timing of showery onset and departure is still a bit up in the air, but an onset of roughly Friday late afternoon to evening with showers overnight, and an exit by Saturday mid-day into early afternoon looks most probable at the moment.
I can’t even rule out a few snowflakes mixing into the peaks of Stratton, Mt. Snow, and Okemo late Friday night! Certainly Mt. Washington could pick up some light accumulation at over 6000 feet in elevation.
Saturday will be the cooler of the two weekend days, and cloudier as well, with highs ranging in the upper 50s to mid 60s with some hopeful brightening toward the end of the day. Maybe we’ll get a nice sunset!
By Sunday, fair weather arrives with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s under partly sunny skies, and by early next week, temps will come up a touch, cresting into the upper 60s to mid 70s with a few showers possible Monday, and a return to fair weather by Tuesday.
It’s a pretty tranquil weather pattern ahead, and one that will be trending back to seasonable after today’s warmth.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
