COLD & FAIR WEATHER THROUGH SATURDAY WITH A FEW SNOW SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON… REINFORCING SHOT OF ARCTIC AIR THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY… POTENTIAL MAJOR SNOWSTORM MAY IMPACT SUNDAY

Good morning folks, well that storm certainly took a piece out of me, how about you? I haven’t shoveled or moved that much snow in many years and my oldening body is barking at me this morning! WOOF! LOL… anyway, it’s cold and mostly sunny this week into Saturday with a few snow showers this afternoon, and a reinforcing shot of Arctic air by Thursday night. Once we reach Saturday, we may have another major snowstorm with which to contend.

I am hoping to do a deeper dive into this coming weekend’s storm potential either this evening, or certainly by tomorrow evening, as there are a lot of subtle factors that could come together and produce an even more memorable storm than the one we just endured – one that may not feature as much snow accumulation, but one that still could produce a major snowfall combined with a lot of wind (and for coastal residents, substantial coastal flooding).

In short, if this storm lines up and tracks close enough, we could be talking about a major nor’easter, and one that could potentially morph into the Blizzard of 2026 for coastal areas — it has that many powerful elements available to feed into its development, including:

–Old cold air AND fresh new cold air at all levels
–An upper trough to guide it up the coast
–Tons of Gulf and Atlantic moisture
–A strong temperature gradient from inland to sea to feed the production of a strong wind profile
–Tides that could favor substantial coastal flooding

This storm would impact late Saturday night through Sunday if it were to hit, and it could also be slowed down due to some high-latitude blocking to our north, so I am watching this one VERY carefully.

But for now, we can expect mostly calm, cold, and fair weather for the rest of the weekend into the first half of the weekend, despite a few snow showers for some later this afternoon.

Thanks very much and if you value my work and want to support it through 2026, you can contribute below (my free iPhone app is available for download as well).

Thank you so much, Dave.
