WICKED COLD THIS MORNING, THEN MORE TOLERABLE COLD THIS WEEK WITH FAIR WEATHER… BREEZY MID-WEEK… LIGHT SNOW FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY, THEN WINDY WEEKEND DEEP FREEZE

Good morning folks, once again we wake up to Hoth with temps in the single digits above and below zero, though for the first time in a while we’re slated to rise up well into the 20s, as if that’s some major accomplishment! Well, at this point, it truly is and we can expect more of the same through this week.

Fair weather will rule the region as high pressure pushes into the eastern U.S. and slides a bit south of us. This means temps ranging well into the 20s (mid to upper 20s central and southern valley east into southern CMass and northern CT, low to mid 20s north and west of there along Rt. 2 and in the Berkshires, hilltowns and SVT/SWNH). Lows will be in the single digits at night as our snow pack keeps us cold.

By Friday, an Alberta Clipper will dive southeast through the region by evening after an increase in clouds during the day, with snow showers breaking out or a period of light accumulating snow overnight into Saturday morning.

This may drop a coating to an inch or two, but it will definitely fall into my patented (not really) #NoBigWhoop category of impacts.

However, the wind behind that system WILL whoop it up, and could gust out of the northwest between 30-50mph or so later Saturday night as Arctic air slams back into the region for a couple of days.

Right now behind that Clipper the weekend is looking FRIGID with highs in the single digits to low teens and low below zero, with below zero wind chills and likely a need for the hoisting of more Cold Weather Advisories by Saturday night.

Super Bowl Sunday for Pats fans will be a super chilly affair so make that hot sauce extra hot to push some heat out against more Hoth-ian conditions (sorry, I’m an old Star Wars geek).

By early next week, there are signs that we might start to move out of this Arctic pattern, but until then we’ll take it one day at a time.

I hope you have a great day!
