WARM AND MOSTLY SUNNY WITH A CHANCE FOR SHOWERS SOUTH OF THE PIKE TONIGHT AND ANOTHER CHANCE FOR SHOWERS / STORMS THURSDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING…
Good morning folks, we’re still on the southern side of a fairly stationary frontal boundary that is positioned to our north, which will be slowly coming south and passing through the region late this week. Originally, it looked like Thursday was the date of passage, but now it appears that is set for Friday.
This setup maintains the likelihood for humid conditions to continue into Friday along with a chance of scattered showers or a thunderstorms at times as disturbances track quickly west to east through our region to the south of the front and through the greater WMass region.
We’ve got three such disturbances on the docket: one for tonight that likely passes south of us and may push some showers or a storm up into northern CT and far southern parts of WMass and CMass, a second by Thursday afternoon and a final one Friday afternoon.
Not everybody gets wet, and at the moment I don’t expect any flash flooding or severe weather, but I will keep an eye on it.
For today through Friday, high temps will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s with lows either side of 60º tonight and tomorrow night, and more in the 50s for lows by Friday night.
We’re mostly sunny through the rest of the week, but some clouds will build at times when the aforementioned disturbances track east or southeast through our region.
It will be humid as well, especially on Thursday when we could dewpoints pushing toward 70º.
Again, some scattered showers are expected south of the Pike overnight tonight into very early Thursday morning, with another round of showers or a t-storm tracking southeast into parts of our region by Thursday evening.
Lastly, Friday may also feature some showers/storms sometime in the afternoon or evening, and I will update you once we get closer.
By Saturday, I expect much drier conditions with dewpoints in the 50s, highs in the 70s to near 80º, and lows in the low to mid 50s under sunny/clear skies, for what is likely our pick of the weekend.
On Sunday, I expect a similar day to unfold, and hopefully an incoming system slated to bring some level of showers to our region to kick off the work week will hold off its arrival until Sunday night into Monday morning, but this timing may change.
After our Monday system, we should see fair weather build back into the region on Tuesday, which is right in time for a show I’m playing in Florence, MA at Look Park and the Pines Theatre called “Transformance: Moonage Daydream”. It supports arts programs in Northampton public schools, is a super cheap ticket, and a super fun night on the lawn with food trucks and great music, including yours truly thumping some bass on 10 songs for a good cause along with 20 other great bands, so I hope to see you there!
Have a great day!
