MIXED MORNING PRECIP ENDS BY MID-MORNING, FOLLOWED BY PERIODS OF MOSTLY SNOW SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING, SOME GRASSY LIGHT ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE, COLD DAY…

Good morning folks, I hope this week goes as well as it possibly can for you. We received generally a quarter inch to an inch of rain with less in southwest NH and far northern CMass, between 0.75-1.50” in northern CT and southernmost CMass. Our rain and snow is ending in southern CMass and northeast CT this morning, and we’ll be left with dry and cloudy conditions with patchy drizzle or freezing drizzle at elevation.

For the rest of our Monday, expect a cold day with highs only in the 30s behind the front, and we’ll see some more snow showers develop by mid-day into the early to mid afternoon thanks to an upper level disturbance working on steeper lapse rates due to colder air aloft moving into the region.

This may produce some slushy coatings on road ways, or perhaps a coating to up to 2” on grassy surfaces, but with a high late-March sun angle and milder temps coming this week, impacts should be limited.

Still, we could see some moderate to heavier bursts of snow this afternoon, especially along and mainly east of the I-91 corridor the farther east you go.

All of this activity winds down before midnight with lows dropping into the mid to upper 20s, so some patchy black ice is possible by early Tuesday morning.

High pressure will be moving into the region and help develop a trio of mostly fair and pleasant days with increasing temperatures through Thursday.

Tuesday looks lovely with highs in the 40s under mostly sunny skies with lows in the upper 20s, followed by a partly sunny day on Wednesday with highs reaching to either side of 50º.

Clouds will build Wednesday night with a few showers as a weak disturbance moves through the region with lows in the 30s, no big whoop.

Thursday should be the mildest this week with highs well into the 50s, and possibly hitting 60º in the Springfield to Hartford stretch.

We’ll cloud back up and see rainfall moving in Thursday night and lasting into Friday morning with at least a quarter to half inch of rain looking plausible.

This system will pass north of us, and drag its cold front through the region which will tamp temps back down into the 40s for highs on Friday, followed by lows nose-diving into the upper teens to mid 20s at night.

As of now, this coming weekend looks beautiful but a bit chilly with highs mainly in the 40s, lows in the 20s, and mostly sunny skies throughout. Here’s hoping that picture is actually meteorologically painted across our hills and dales so we can enjoy a full weekend of fair weather!

Have a great day!
