WEEKEND BLIZZARD TRENDING TOWARDS A GRAZE FOR FAR NORTHEAST CT, SOUTHEAST CMASS & POSSIBLY A HIT FOR SOUTHEAST NEW ENGLAND… OTHERWISE, FAIR, COLD, COLD AND MORE COLD NEXT 2 WEEKS

Good morning folks, the main story going forward is cold, cold, and more cold, and especially so by Thursday nit into the first half of Friday behind another reinforcing shot of Arctic air. Wind chills may pin down to -30º below zero by early Friday morning, so I do expect more cold weather headlines to be hoisted by the NWS either today or early tomorrow for that time period.

As of this morning, temps are FRIGID in eastern Franklin County, down to -15º in Orange, MA, and similar in southwest NH and parts of NW Worcester County and other isolated pockets, with single digits for the rest of us.

We’ve hit an air pocket storm-wise, although I still am monitoring this potential weekend system, as that has the potential to become the Blizzard of 2026, and it certainly will produce a #SatelliteSpectacle as it blasts the fish, and possibly Cape Cod and the Islands, but the trend for now is southeast and away from our region.

There’s a low chance that northeast CT and southern CMass could get into some Sunday snow and wind, and it may get breezy for the rest of us, but I will keep you updated.

Otherwise, the Nutshell below covers the dailies. have a great day!

YOUR NUTSHELL:
–We are starting off very cold, with eastern Franklin County into SW Worcester County and SWNH in the deep freeze!
–Today and tomorrow (Wed/Thurs) highs in the mid teens to low 20s with lows either side of 0º, and some lower temps possible due to deep snow pack effect
–Sunshine lasts through Saturday, with more partly sunny skies in the high terrain at times
–Arctic front swings through Thursday evening and delivers another shot of Arctic air with wind chills as low as -25º below zero, with cold weather alerts likely needed from NWS
–Friday highs likely only in the single digits with blustery conditions and northwest gusts to 30mph, and wind chills likely below zero
–Saturday highs reach the mid teens to low 20s with lows again either side of 0º
–Clouds increase Sunday, especially east of the I-91 corridor
–Very low chance of snow for much of our region, though northeast CT and CMass could get into some light snow or even some steadier/moderate bursts
–Blizzard of 2026 would transpire if this coastal low were to get drawn towards Nantucket, but trends are southeast, and mostly a hit for the Cape and Islands
–I will continue to update you with any trend changes, but for now, it looks mostly like a non-event
–Cold continues through next week, we’re stuck in the deep freeze
