FROST ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN HOISTED FOR SOUTHERN VT AND SOUTHWEST NH… PATCHY FROST POSSIBLE NORTHERN BERKSHIRES AND FRANKLIN COUNTY LATE TONIGHT… DRYING TODAY, SUNNY FRIDAY…
Good morning everybody, I’d say today is a very different air mass than the past several, that’s for sure! Our cold front has moved through, and while we have some light shower or drizzle activity mostly along/south of the Pike early this morning, that will push south and east out of our region with light breezes and cooler temps that will last through at least Memorial Day before next week’s warm-up.
For today, said early morning showers/drizzle will vamoose, and we’ll continue to dry from north to south with highs in the 60s. It’ll be mostly cloudy this morning but we should see some sunny breaks later by this afternoon.
For tonight, we’re expected to clear out and the new cooler air mass settled in with much drier air, temps are expected to drop into the mid 30s to low 40s for much of the valley south of Greenfield down into CT and points east into CMass.
However, Frost Advisories are now up for SVT and SWNH, and it is there and down into Franklin County, the northern Berkshires, and possibly northern CMass where we could see temps more in the low to mid 30s with upper 20s possible in SVT.
Thereafter, our Friday should develop and into a lovely end of the week with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s under partly to mostly sunny skies, with lows in the 40s with increasing clouds.
Memorial Day Weekend looks split between mostly dry conditions Saturday and Monday, and what looks like a rainy Sunday, starting Sunday morning.
For Saturday, I do expect more clouds than sun, with clouds thickening late in the day along with cooler temps and highs only in the upper 50s to mid 60s which is below seasonable for sure. A few showers are possible late, but I think we’re dry until late at night, when lows will dip into the upper 30s to mid 40s.
By Sunday, however, I think the high pressure feature that will be shunting Saturday showers southwestward will give way, and a warm front and low pressure area will push into our region, bringing periods of showers and rainfall Sunday morning into the afternoon.
In addition, temps are likely only going to hang in the 50s, which is quite chilly for this time of year! After our record-breaking heat wave this week, it’s a legit meteorological whiplash effect that we’ll be experiencing, with a full-on Sunday Soup Day likely.
Showers should wind down Sunday night with lows in the 40s and then after a few early morning showers on Memorial Day Monday, we should get some brightening skies to develop later in the day with highs back up into the mid 60s to low 70s as high pressure positions to our south behind the warm frontal passage.
This will set up Tuesday and Wednesday to be warmer, with highs well into the 70s both days under sunnier skies, and the potential to reach the low 80s in the valley.
Have a great day!
