MORNING SHOWERS END AS A VERY MILD DAY ARRIVES WELL INTO THE 60s WITH GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS… STEADIER RAIN ARRIVES 5PM-9PM FROM WEST TO EAST... COLD FRONT LEADS TO COLDER FRIDAY
Good morning folks, we had some wind gusts overnight as southerly flow continued to develop with some light showers that moved through. These are now tracking east and out of here, which will lead to a very mild day with potentially stronger southwesterly gusts of 20-35mph, perhaps even reaching 40mph in some high terrain areas in the greater WMass region.
Partly sunny skies are expected to develop which will send highs soaring into the 60s for most of us (mid to upper 50s in northwest MA and SVT high terrain) with some valley towns cresting 70º if the sun lasts long enough!
Again, it will be gusty at times as wind mixes down to the surface with these warm temps ahead of tonight’s cold frontal passage, and clouds will increase later this afternoon with first showers reaching southwest VT or the northern Berkshires by about 5-6pm.
Rain then overspreads the region between 6-9pm or so and we should all be dealing with showers of varying intensities before midnight with patchy fog possible.
Temps will be quite mild overnight, hanging in the upper 40s to low 50s into the pre-dawn hours, with rain likely ending before dawn.
The cold front comes through in the morning, which will cause temps to drop a bit and then hang in the 40s as northwesterly flow becomes established, gusting 20-30mph at times later in the morning and afternoon for a time.
Friday looks mostly cloudy at the moment, but we could get some partial clearing later in the day with temps falling from the 40s, into the 30s, and then crashing into the upper teens to 20s for lows – Saturday morning will be cold!
We may see a few isolated snow showers or flurries overnight as well, but then a mostly sunny weekend will be bestowed upon our hills and dales in all its resplendency!
It’ll be cold on Saturday, yes, but sunny with highs in the upper 20s to 30s with lows in the low to mid 20s under clear skies. By Sunday, high pressure moves south of us, and will return milder highs in the 40s through the region with more sunshine, and lows in the mid to upper 20s.
By early next week, clouds will start to build into the region as temps rise further into the 50s on Monday, but it should remain dry through Monday night with lows in the 30s.
Once we reach the Tuesday to Wednesday timeframe, there are a couple of shower chances with widely scattered showers Tuesday, but the main chance for rain looks like it could come by Wednesday afternoon and night with another cold frontal boundary, but I will update on that as we get closer.
Have a great day!
