VERY WARM TO HOT TODAY AND SATURDAY WITH SCATTERED STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE SAT. EVENING… SOME STORMS MAY CONTAIN LOCALIZED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND HEAVY RAINFALL…

Good morning folks, well we certainly are staring down a dearth of rainfall along with two bouts of upcoming unseasonable heat for early to mid-June as our daylight peaks in terms of hours and minutes of planetary illumination. Between these 2 runs toward and just above 90º, we have our first shot at severe weather in a while for Saturday late afternoon and especially in the evening with strong to severe thunderstorms possible.

Before we get there, we’ve got a fairly dry yet very warm-to-hot today to end our work week today / Friday. Skies should become mostly sunny with highs reaching well into the 80s to low 90s, and lows should bottom out to either side of 60º under partly cloudy skies.

For Saturday, we have a cold front and associated showers and thunderstorms to manage, but that activity should mostly hold off until the 4pm-Midnight timeframe.

During the morning and into the mid-afternoon we should be mostly dry, partly sunny on average (more sun in the morning, less in the afternoon), and very warm to hot once again with highs in the low 80s to low 90s from our high terrain areas to the Pioneer Valley.

As a cold front approaches the greater WMass region for the evening hours, a pre-frontal trough zone will push into our area, and could spawn a few isolated showers, or a downpour or thunderstorm between say 2pm and 6pm, but most of us should be dry.

However, after about 5pm or 6pm, a somewhat congealed line of showers, downpours and strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will be forming out over NY state and tracking east-southeast into our region.

Some of these cells could go strong to severe with strong to locally damaging wind gusts, small hail, lightning and torrential rainfall.

By about midnight this activity should be through the region and lows will drop into the mid 50s to mid 60s.

Behind the front, Sunday looks much cooler with highs in the 70s under partly sunny skies (again more sun in the morning, less in the afternoon) with some scattered instability showers by afternoon. Lows will drop into the 50s.

Monday represents a seasonably warm day with highs in the 70s as high pressure crests overhead tracking southward through New England. Lows will dip into the low to mid 50s.

Then as high pressure positions south of us, it will develop a warming southwest flow and we’ll heat up again for Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the 80s Tuesday, and possibly the 80s to low 90s Wednesday and Thursday.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!
