GORGEOUS SUMMAH DAYS ABOUND, LASTING THROUGH AT LEAST SUNDAY… A FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE MONDAY, THEN MORE UNSETTLED TUESDAY INTO MID-WEEK WITH AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS…

Good morning folks, well, well, well, we’ve got the core of a high pressure system that has waddled eastward and plopped itself right on top of us, sitting on our region like a mother hen which will keep us cozy, dry, and warm today, and I say welcome! In fact, the effects of our high-pressure cell should last through the weekend (and possibly Monday) until a slightly-disturbed upper trough helps develop more showers and storms into the middle of next week, so let’s jump in.

For today (and through the weekend, really) we’ll enter a seasonably warm and stable temperature regime that will push highs into the mid 70s to mid 80s from high terrain to low terrain respectively, and include low temps well into the 50s with plenty of sunshine and mostly clear evenings.

I can’t overstate how wonderful this stretch is very likely to be, and will be super supportive of all summer outdoor activities, so get out and enjoy it!

Humidity will be low as well, likely through Monday which is really our transition day from stable weather to unsettled conditions by Tuesday into the middle part of the work week.

That’s because an upper-level trough will be swinging east out of the northern Great Lakes region, and troughs tend to foster cooler air aloft and therefore vertical temperatures profiles that foster rising air and hence condensation, clouds formation, and precipitation.

As a result, Monday will start to feature some more clouds, especially by afternoon with a few scattered showers possible late, so we’ll call it partly sunny for now with highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s, and lows either side of 60º.

By Tuesday, our trough comes closer and we’ll likely see more in the way of afternoon showers and thunderstorms scattered about the region with more clouds and highs in the low 70s to low 80s both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Humidity will also be coming up by later Tuesday, and it looks quite humid Tuesday afternoon, evening and into Wednesday with more showers and storms possible.

A few more showers may linger into Thursday, but a cold front should sweep the region at some point on that day, and usher in drier air and more sunshine by the end of the week with highs in the 70s to low 80s.

Lastly, there are some signs that wildfire smoke may gather up again and pass into New England by mid week, but we’ll have to get closer to see how it’s directed by the wind flow, and it could easily be directed south and away from us.

Have a great day!
