DRIER, COOLER FOR MUCH OF WEDNESDAY THEN HEAVY RAIN AT TIMES OVERNIGHT WITH EMBEDDED THUNDER IN SPOTS… STREET FLOODING PROBABLE… THURSDAY MORNING LOOKS WET… SCATTERED SHOWERS P.M.

Good morning folks, aside from some isolated misty areas we’re mostly dry this morning and it should stay that until at least late afternoon when a few showers may arrive prior to the bigger rains coming any time after 10pm through the overnight period with showers, downpours and a few embedded t-storms lasting into at least early to mid Thursday morning.

For today, highs will reach the mid 60s to mid 70s under mostly cloudy skies and humidity will be at tolerable levels, though that will change overnight and especially on Thursday.

There is a potent Mesoscale Convective Complex over Lake Ontario this morning and that is tracking east-southeast. While that should weaken with time, some remnant showers could reach the western high terrain west of I-91 by late afternoon or dinner time.

However, behind that is a warm front and wave that will push rain, heavy at times with embedded elevated thunderstorms into central and eastern NY just after sunset, and that will be pushing our way towards the midnight hour.

Rain will fall heavily at times overnight and street flooding is probable in spots. Some embedded thunderstorms may also survive the trip and would likely be elevated (with higher cloud bases than average), meaning they could be louder than normal.

Lows tonight will hang in the 55-60º range and the wet weather will continue into at least part of Thursday morning.

Once that main precipitation pulse swings through by mid-morning or so, activity should become more isolated to scattered for the rest of the day, with potential for one or two isolated strong thunderstorms, especially south of the Pike by afternoon.

It will be quite humid with dewpoint temps in the upper 60s to low 70s and high air temps will reach well into the 70s to possibly the low 80s if we can get some sunny breaks to develop which is probable by afternoon.

All activity winds down Thursday night with lows dropping to either side of 60º, which sets us up for a couple of drying days Friday and Saturday with partly to mostly sunny skies, the chance for a spot afternoon shower or two, and highs in the 70s to low 80s Friday and more in the 70s for Saturday. Lows both nights will be in the 50s.

Sunday through Tuesday, which includes the back part of the Labor Day holiday weekend look lovely, sunny, and cooler with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s along with abundant fair weather.

Have a great day!
