LATE SUMMAH TASTE TODAY WITH SHOWERS OR T-STORM BY AFTERNOON, COOLER, SUNNIER WEEKEND… EVEN COLDER FIRST HALF OF NEXT WEEK WITH FIRST FROSTS POSSIBLE EARLY TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY AM

Good morning folks, just to remind folks that miss it, after 14 years of daily reporting through all of our storms all years round, I am stepping away for a reporting break over the coming week through the following weekend. I may poke my head in one or twice for any notable or impactful weather events in my absence, but those would be brief evening reports, most likely. Our weather does look fairly tranquil during my impending pause, so I’m glad for that.

For today, it’s a day of summah lovahs! We’re already starting out in the low to mid 60s, with partial to sometime full sunshine early we’ll make a good run at the low 70s in the high terrain to upper 70s to low 80s in the Pioneer Valley floor, so bust out the beach balls, bathing suits, and suntan lotion!

It’ll also be humid, with the heat index rising into the mid 80s as a result, but alas warm-season worshippers, it is a fleeting, ephemeral hit of the season gone by.

A cold front will be working through the region by later afternoon into the evening from west to east, and bring some scattered showers or even a downpour or thunderstorm.

Any activity should quit before midnight, and we’ll be left with lows cooling into the upper 40s to mid 50s as we start to dry the air out.

The weekend looks mostly lovely with mostly sunny skies developing on Saturday as high pressure moves into the region, which will result with highs reaching the 60s, and lows dropping into the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Sunday looks equally nice but we do have a secondary cold front moving through late in the day or overnight. This front looks more moisture-starved, so just a few showers possible Sunday evening.

Otherwise, expect partly to mostly sunny skies on Sunday with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s and lows in the mid to upper 40s.

The early-to-mid week period after this weekend looks to feature fair weather, and much cooler conditions behind that second cold front with Canadian high pressure building into our region.

Highs Monday will reach the mid 50s to mid 60s under sunny skies, but temps will plummet into the mid 30s to low 40s range late Monday night with a few folks approaching the freezing mark (northwest MA, southern VT, as examples).

Tuesday and Tuesday night look like the coldest 24 hours since the Winter of 2025-26, with highs in the upper 40s to upper 50s, and lows crashing deep into the 30s, with some upper 20s possible in/around SVT.

All this to say, we have 2 potential first-frost chances: the first and more isolated late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, and the second more likely wider-spread chance late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.

By next Wednesday and Thursday, fair weather should continue with highs climbing back up into the upper 50s to mid 60s range with lows in the 40s.

Have a great week!
