A GUSTY, COOLER, AND BRIGHTER THURSDAY LEADS ANOTHER FROSTY NIGHT FOLLOWED BY A MILDENING FROM FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY WHEN TEMPS MAY TOP 70º…
Good morning folks, we’ve got sunshine for days to look forward to, which will last all the way through our upcoming weekend. This will be accompanied by a slow warm up (maybe I should call it a “mild-up”?) that will launch from Friday early morning’s lows which will be cold enough to have prompted a Frost Advisory to be posted for northern Litchfield County in far northwest CT.
Before that we have our Thursday to move through, and trillions of air molecules will be moving through our region in the form of “wind” gusting 20-35mph out of the north today as the morning grows and we move into the afternoon. Highs will be chilly, only in the mid 40s in the high terrain to mid 50s in valley and southern areas of the greater WMass region.
Lows tonight, with winds slowly dying down to gusts up to 20mph or maybe 25mph, will drop into the upper 20s to mid 30s under clear skies.
For Friday, our upper ridge will be pushing east into New England and as such, winds will continue to decrease and temps will start to nudge up, with highs in the
low 50s to low 60s from high to low elevation under sunny skies. Lows will dip into the low to mid 30s.
The weekend looks lovely with plenty of sunshine and highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s on Saturday, and then well into the 60s on Sunday with early sun followed by increasing clouds late in the day with some areas possibly reaching 70º (think Springfield to Hartford stretch), with lows in the 40s.
Clouds thicken Sunday night with some showers arriving after midnight, followed by a rainy Monday as a cold front sweeps into the region. Highs Monday will only reach the mid 50s to low 60s with lows in the 40s and showers decreasing.
The rest of next week holds the potential to be more unsettled than not, with perhaps a lull on Tuesday followed by more showers Tuesday night into Wednesday as a second Midwest low pressure system may develop and spawn another coastal low to push more rain in here by the middle of the week.
Beyond that there’s even more shower chances, so hopefully we can start reversing course on our current drought and lay some groundwater in before the start of the next cold season as November is right around the corner.
I hope you have a great day, and if you’re on FB you can join the conversation here.
