BLACK ICE EARLY TODAY… UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPS BLITZ SNOW PACK FIRST HALF OF THIS WEEK… SUNNY AND WARM THROUGH TUESDAY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON INTO THURS...
Good morning everybody, well well well, it looks like even though we’re in March and I can’t yet rule out more wintry shenanigans, the next few days are going to be a sweet reward after enduring an unrelenting and strong winter season where above-average snowfall accumulated for many with periods of brutal Arctic cold.
Sunshine is coming to town, and so are highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s today, followed by temps in the 60s for most of us tomorrow, with some low 70s possible in the Pioneer Valley from about Northampton southward! We’ll even climb into the upper 50s to mid 60s by Wednesday for a trifecta of Big Mild before we land back into seasonable temperature territory by late week and through the weekend.
So, get ready to enjoy a couple days of sunny and very mild temps, followed by lows tonight in the 30s with some patchy fog, and then lows in the 40s Tuesday night as the influence of high pressure to our southeast pumps a southwesterly warming flow into our region.
By Wednesday, that high center relinquishes a bit of control as an incoming cold front starts to displace it east as the front approaches.
This makes Wednesday a transition day with perhaps some partly sunny skies early, followed by increasing clouds and some scattered showers by Wednesday afternoon, which should increase at night, although there are some signs of this front not being robust as originally thought.
As the front approaches, southerly gusts may pick up to 25 mph at times, so no big whoop but it could blow your hair around a bit.
It’ll be mild at first Wednesday night, then the front swings through Thursday morning with a low chance of a change to brief snow in the high terrain before it pulls east.
Highs Thursday will reach the mid 40s to mid 50s as any precipitation ends, and it should be continued breezy out of the northwest behind the front as temps fall into the mid 20s to low 30s at night.
The Friday through Monday period features seasonably cool temperatures with highs mostly in the low to mid 40s with lows in the 20s to low 30s and a couple more chances of precipitation with storms likely passing to our north, which limits wintry potential.
Still, I am watching the Friday night into Saturday morning timeframe for some light scattered rain and show activity, and again Sunday afternoon into early Monday for the same.
It’s next week sometime that if we’re going to take advantage of even colder temps expected by the middle of next week that we *might* generate some late-season snow potential, but it’s just a low potential at the moment.
Have a great day, peeps!

YOUR NUTSHELL:
–Black ice early today with temps in the 20s to low 30s to start the day
–High pressure southeast of us and clearing skies will allow temps to soar Monday and Tuesday under mostly sunny skies
–Our snow pack won’t know what hit it, with highs in the mid 50s to mid 60s today, and 60s to possibly some low 70s on Tuesday! WARMTH!
–Lows tonight will be in the 30s with patchy fog around
–Lows Tuesday night will hang in the 40s
–By Wednesday we cloud up, but should still be mild with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s but a frontal boundary will be approaching from our west
–Scattered showers will develop later in the afternoon and into Wednesday night
–The front sweeps through early on Thursday and some high-terrain areas west of the I-91 corridor may see a change to snow before it ends
–Temps cool back down to seasonable levels after our spike-y Spring surge, with highs mainly in the 40s from Thursday through the weekend, with lows mainly in the mid 20s to low 30s during that period
–This means that black ice in the morning will resume after a reprieve the middle of this week
–There are also more rain / snow chances Friday night into Saturday morning and Sunday night into Monday, with Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning looking like the driest period fo the upcoming weekend
