ANOTHER PLEASANT, MILDER DAY WITH A FEW SHOWERS OVERNIGHT… BREEZY THURSDAY, MILDER… RAINFALL MOVES IN AFTER DINNER IN NORTHERN MA, SVT/SWNH, THEN REST OF WMASS, CMASS & NORTHERN CT
Good morning folks, our weather is continuing to seesaw back and forth as is fairly typical with the March-to-April period with cold relenting and warmth surging and trying to establish the results of Earth’s northern hemisphere being pointed more directly at our star after the Vernal Equinox and through the Summer Solstice.
We’re starting off cold this morning with temps either side of 30º, but those will rise with conviction today, reaching the upper 40s to mid 50s under a partly to mostly sunny sky and light winds out of the west and southwest.
Clouds will increase by tonight as a very weak wave works through the region, which will bring a few widely scattered rain showers, and maybe a few snowflakes up into the southern Greens of VT, with lows in the mid to upper 30s.
That will clear out by Thursday morning, and with high pressure firmly positioned to our south and a strong cold front pressing in from our northwest, southwest winds will usher in even milder highs into the upper 50s to mid 60s along with southwest gusts of 20-35mph at times, especially by the afternoon.
By around dinner time, first showers will first be pushing into northern MA, SVT and SWNH, but by midnight, the rest of the greater WMass region will get into the rainfall, and about a quarter to half an inch should fall through about mid-morning or so on Friday.
Temps will be mild at night ahead of the front, hanging in the 40s to near 50º, before falling steadily through Friday behind the front as colder air advects into the region on northwest gusts up to 25mph or so.
Temps will fall into the 30s most likely by evening, and then bottom out in the mid teens to mid 20s by early Saturday morning as we dry out and clear our skies – it’ll be a very cold kickoff to the weekend!
Our weekend looks quite sunny at the moment with highs in the 30s Saturday and lows in the low to mid 20s, followed by highs in the 40s on Sunday with lows in the mid to upper 20s.
So I guess that means the entire weekend is the weekend pick!! ;-)
Fair weather continues into Monday as we see temps come up into the 50s with an upper ridge forming in the southeast U.S. and pushing east and off the coastline, which will put New England in a warming flow, most likely.
A few showers are possible by Tuesday, but it’s possible that temps will surge well into the 60s by the middle of next week and even crest 70º in spots, so warm weather lovers may have something to celebrate next week.
Have a great day!
