TODAY MARKS 15 YEARS OF DAVE HAYES THE WEATHER NUT… THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT… HEAT ADVISORIES ARE UP TODAY… A FEW SHOWERS THIS EVENING, MORE SATURDAY PM...

Good morning folks, it is very hard to believe that I have been at this weather nutting thing for 15 years as of this morning, and I have all of you to thank for giving me a purpose in this world and a reason to show up. I would have been done years ago if it weren’t for my local sponsors, and especially for the life blood of my operation which is the donors who voluntarily pitch in during my annual support drives, and to those who support me ongoingly. I really can’t thank you enough for the tremendous kindness and generosity you’ve bestowed upon me, thank you so much.

As for our weather, Heat Advisories are back up today through 8pm as another hot and humid day with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s is foisted up on us by Mother Nature, along with tropical humidity levels with dewpoints in the low to mid 70s.

Skies should be mostly sunny, and this heat should result in some scattered showers later in the afternoon or evening, though best dynamics look to set up southwest of our region. This means that along/south of the Pike represents the most likely area for any showers or thunderstorms later on.

Lows will hang in the 65-70º range with very humid conditions remaining and patchy fog possible late.

On Saturday, we’ve got a disturbance moving through our region by later afternoon and evening, and this will produce a better chance for scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms across the greater WMass region (not just southwestern areas).

Highs will be very warm, but not as hot as today with highs well into the 80s for most of us with continued high humidity.

By mid to late afternoon, we’ll see showers, downpours and t-storms form, and some showers could be heavy and cause localized flooding due to earlier rainfalls, and our tropical air mass. They will be slow-moving, too, so could cause some isolated problems. Strong gusty winds are also possible.

Lows Saturday night will dip into the 60s, and we’ll start to dry out a bit for the Sunday to Monday period.

The end of our weekend is the weekend pick for sure, and Monday looks like a great start to the work week.

Mostly sunny skies are expected both days with highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s, and lows either side of 60º. It’ll still be humid, but not as tropical as the air mass we’re currently soaking in.

By Tuesday, a cold front should be approaching the region with more showers and possible thunderstorms, along with highs reaching the low 70s to low 80s.

I don’t expect a severe weather outbreak from this front, and at the moment it looks to deliver us into a Wednesday to Thursday timeframe of slightly lower temps and dewpoints, with highs in the low 70s to low 80s.

By the end of next week or the following weekend, I am still expecting a second cold front that could give us real break in the humidity, but it’s a long way off, so I will keep track of it and update you along the way.

Again, thank you so much for all of your support over these 15 years. What started as a simple way to have my Facebook friends who were interested in weather follow along with my musings on occasion became my life’s vocation, and thanks to you, my living that allows me to keep my community informed to the best of my ability about incoming weather impacts in an effort to help further the NWS mission which is to help protect life and property (especially Life!).

Thank you, and I hope you have a great day!
