SCATTERED SHOWERS AND CLOUDY TODAY, NICER FRIDAY WITH A FEW SHOWERS SATUDAY MORNING… SUNDAY IS THE WEEKEND PICK… MILDER NEXT WEEK WITH UNSETTLED CONDITIONS BY WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY

Good morning folks, our primary low center passes through northwest VT today with a weak secondary low tracking along the passing cold front, which will produce some scattered showers today after the steadier stuff moved through overnight.

More rainfall fell in SVT, WMass and northwest CT vs. parts of our greater WMass region to the east into CMass where some folks didn’t yet receive a tenth of an inch, but we should see some more showers develop as the day wears on.

It’ll be mostly cloudy to overcast with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows in the upper 30s to low 40s as any final showers taper off before midnight.

Friday looks like a lovely end to the work week with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s under sunny skies with light west winds, so get out and enjoy it! Lows will drop into the mid 30s to low 40s as clouds thicken.

A weak wave pushes a few showers through overnight into Saturday morning, but it should amount to very little the way it looks now.

After a cloudy Saturday morning, partial sunshine should develop into the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 50s with lows near 40º.

Sunday is definitely the pick of the weekend with sunshine expected and highs in the 55-60º range, light wind, and lows either side of 40º.

By Monday, high pressure positions south of us and generated southwest flow with low pressure to our northwest which will encourage a southwest wind to develop and gust up to 30mph at times during our sunny start to next week.

Highs will climb into the low to mid 60s as a result, and enhanced fire spread risks will increase.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, this flow becomes more established and should push highs at least into the mid 60s to low 70s range, if not producing some mid 70s by Wednesday.

After a partly sunny Tuesday, we could see some showers with pre-frontal trough forming over the region on Wednesday. This would be preceding the potential for a larger rainfall by late Wednesday night through Thursday as a potentially strong storm passes northwest of us, tracking up the St. Lawrence River Valley in southeast Canada.

This could push a cold front towards the greater WMass region along with heavier rainfall and potentially some thunderstorms so I will keep you updated as we get closer.

YOUR NUTSHELL:
–Highs in the mid to upper 50s today through Sunday, save for Friday which should crest into the low 60s in the valley
–Lows mid 30s to low 40s on average through the period
–Scattered showers today, especially east of I-91 as we move into mid day and afternoon
–Showers taper off tonight followed by a mostly sunny Friday to end the week
–Clouds build Friday night with a weak system moving in to bring a few showers overnight into Saturday morning
–Partial sunshine develops Saturday afternoon, followed by a cooler but lovely Sunday under sunny skies
–Early next week becomes milder southwest flow with mostly sunny skies Monday and highs in the low to mid 60s with lows in the low 40s
–Gusty southwest winds are expected Monday, so enhanced fire spread risk may become an issue
–By Tuesday and Wednesday, temps will move up into the mid 60s to low 70s with showers possible by mid-week
–Wednesday may even peak into the mid 70s before a stronger storm system passes northwest of us and pushes its cold front into our region
–This would bring more substantial rainfall for Wednesday night into Thursday, and cool us down for the late week period
