THAW-REFREEZE CYCLE CONTINUES WITH BLACK ICE POSSIBLE EACH MORNING THROUGH INTO NEXT WEEK… BREEZY TODAY WITH SUNSHINE, THEN MORE SUNSHINE TOMORROW WITH LIGHT WIND…

Good morning folks, I think the main thing I want to impress upon you going forward is even though The Mildening (a term so silly that it’s been forever forbidden from being trademarked) is upon us, every single night through this week, this weekend and next week is expected to stay below freezing. This means whatever snow melt we get will refreeze every night, so watch for black ice each morning on your driveways, walkways, sidewalks, paths, etc. No slip-and-falls for you! #SeinfeldReference

Going forward, our weather is looking very tame and tolerable over the next 7 days with only one low chance for a storm, that being Monday, and even then the trend is for that one to slide out to sea to our south, unable to phase with a northern stream piece of energy that *could* help produce a snowstorm if something were to change over the coming days.

The thing that would need to change is our southern piece would need to eject out of the southwest U.S. faster than expected and get east of the longitudinal center of that northern stream, which would help draw it more northeast and closer to New England.

For now, I’m not seeing that happening, but I will keep you updated in case anything changes as we get closer.

Otherwise, we’ve got a big ol’ high pressure to our west and southwest and that will continue to produce widespread sinking air (a/k/a “subsidence”) as high pressure systems to, and that means sunshine for today, tomorrow, and over the weekend (thought Saturday looks partly sunny overall with more clouds in the morning).

Highs will reach the mid 20s to low 30s today with a breezy Thursday followed by a calmer Friday. Lows will be in the single digits tonight, and low to mid teens Friday night as a weak wave brings a few snow showers through the region overnight.

We clear out later Saturday and continue our fair weather pattern with highs well into the 30s both days with lows in the teens.

We may see some cloudiness develop south of the Pike for Monday as that system passes south of us, and again I will keep you updated if that storm track changes and draws closer to us.

Otherwise it departs and pulls westerly mild flow into our region by Tuesday through the rest of the week with highs potentially reaching the low to mid 40s for our region with lows in the 20s, accompanied by more fair weather.

The Mildening is approaching, my friends, so for those who’ve grown sick of the Arctic Hothscape we just endured, rejoice!
