HIGH PRESSURE BRINGS SUNSHINE THROUGH END OF THIS WEEK AND MILDER TEMPS… A FEW SHOWERS BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING ARE FOLLOWED BY A PLEASANT WEEKEND… WARMER EARLY NEXT WEEK...
Good morning folks, it is certainly chilly to start our Wednesday out there! Despite temps in the teens and 20s early this morning (with a 9º reading up by Manchester, VT!), we’ll see temps respond into the 40s to low 50s today under sunny skies with even more sunshine and milder temps to come through the weekend and especially by early next week.
For today, winds have lightened and high pressure is pushing overhead, destined to pass to our southeast by tomorrow afternoon. So for today, that means calm and sunny conditions with highs in the 40s to low 50s.
For tonight, departing high pressure will still be dominant and with calm, clear and dry conditions in place, radiational cooling will maximize once more with lows in the upper teens to 20s.
As high pressure positions southeast of us for the late week period, southerly flow will develop and we’ll see highs well into the 50s tomorrow / Thursday with lows near freezing, followed by highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s by Friday with sunshine the whole way.
By Friday evening, clouds will develop as a weak cold front swings into the region and delivers a few scattered showers overnight into early Saturday morning. Lows will drop to either side of 40º.
This frontal passage does not look like a washout and won’t produce any severe weather. Clouds will clear by late morning to mid-day on Saturday, allowing for a sunny afternoon and highs in the 50s to low 60s, followed by lows near freezing.
Sunday looks sunny as well (aptly named!) with highs also in the 50s to low 60s. In addition, some southerly gusts may kick up by afternoon or overnight ahead of a warm front which is expected to approach the region by some time on Monday after we see lows drop into the low 40s.
Monday temperatures are in question at the moment, with the timing of the frontal passage currently uncertain.
I just realized that the words “ascertain” and “uncertain” share the same suffix but are pronounced differently… moving on…
Temps will at least reach the 60s on Monday, but by Tuesday temps are expected to spike into the 70s to possibly even low 80s behind the warm front (which should also carry some showers through the region sometime on Monday, as well).
After that, unsettled conditions are starting to be more likely for mid to late next week with cooler temps, so I don’t think we’re jumping into summer, folks.
Have a great day!
