MORE CLOUDS THAN SUN TOODAY FOLLOWED BY A COOL BUT MUCH SUNNIER WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK… BY WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY ANOTHER COASTAL NOR'EASTER?
Good morning folks, we can expect mostly fair weather through at least Monday, and probably Tuesday as well with only a few scattered showers expected later today and then again (for eastern areas like CMass and NE.CT due to onshore flow) on Tuesday.
Otherwise, we’re looking at more-clouds-than-sun today overall for our Friday as an upper low continues to circulate over the northeastern U.S. and southeastern Canada. This feature will move east, but still bring potential for a few scattered showers later this afternoon, especially in the high terrain.
Highs will climb into the 50s today with lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s as clouds start to break up more.
By Saturday through Monday, we’ll find ourselves under the influence high pressure tracking south out of Canada towards New England.
This will help produce mostly sunny skies through this stretch, which means that with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s and lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s, we will have a crisp, cool, yet beautiful stretch of weather to enjoy through our weekend into early next week.
By Tuesday, there’s some question as to the impact of our high pressure tracking east and helping to push an easterly wind into eastern New England and how far back to our greater WMass region that might impact our weather in terms of cloudiness or a few showers, so I will keep an eye on that.
Of greater concern to me is the potential for a strong coastal system Wednesday and/or Thursday, which could combine with that high pressure system, produce a stronger pressure gradient and punch up some stronger wind gusts along with needed rainfall into parts of our region.
We also have to monitor what will become Hurricane Melissa, because while that storm will likely stay well enough east of us to cause little to no impacts, I can’t fully rule out a stronger impact from it just yet, either, so that’s something to stay tuned to.
Beyond late next week, those 2 potential systems and their proximity to our region may shuffle the meteorological deck enough to tap into colder air building to our north in Canada to help produce a more active weather pattern across our region into November, so I will keep you updated on all of it as we step deeper into Autumn.
I hope you have a great day and that things work out for you today, somehow.
