Dave's Daily Report

CALM TODAY, A FEW SHOWERS FRIDAY NIGHT, AND PERHAPS SUNDAY NIGHT ALSO… NEXT RAIN CHANCE IS WEDNESDAY…

Good morning folks, we’ve got a cold start out there with partly to mostly cloudy skies and reports of some pretty sweet-looking sunrises where cloud-deck breaks exist, along with temps in the 20s for the most part, flanked by some upper teens north and west, and some low 30s south and east.

Got pics? Please post, if so!

In general, it’s no-big-whoop weather, if you ask me, with a couple of showery chances/periods Friday night and *maybe* again on Sunday night, but overall, we’re dry, seasonably cool, and relaxed meteorologically. The next chance for a bigger rain event is next Wednesday. And while Thanksgiving still looks dry, there are a few signals that are suggesting a secondary storm may form along the front that passes by Wednesday, so I can’t totally rule out inclement weather for Thanksgiving at this stage, but I’ll keep you posted.

For today, surface high pressure pushes east through New England with some moisture in the upper levels that will mix some clouds earlier on, with expected developing sunshine. Call it partly sunny on average with highs in the low to mid 40s, and lows tonight in the low to mid 20s.

On Friday, we’ll start off partly sunny and end cloudier, but with southwest flow in place we’ll enjoy slightly milder highs in the mid 40s to low 50s.

By Friday night, we’ll be sitting between a northern stream system and a southern stream system within a zonal flow (i.e. west-to-east tracking, vs. meridional flow which is more south-north) which means both systems will not shake hands and phase together – they’ll remain separate, and weaker.

So, while a few showers from the northern stream system may impact areas along and north of the Rt. 2 corridor in MA, VT and NH later Friday afternoon and night, and while periods of light rain may impact areas of far southern MA and especially northern CT at night, some of us in the middle will get little to nothing. In addition, those that do see some rain should generally see under a quarter of an inch by Saturday morning, with lows bottoming out in the 30s.

Once those 2 weak bits pass east, the weekend clears up and looks quite pleasant for late Autumn with highs in the low to mid 40s with lows in the 20s under mostly sunny skies and partly cloudy to mostly clear nights.

Fair weather continues through at least Monday with milder highs either side of 50º, and it may persist further still into Tuesday before clouds start building ahead of what could be a more substantial rain event for late Tuesday night into Wednesday.

This looks to be in the form of a warm frontal passage with a storm passing northwest of us, which could introduce a milder surge of low-to-mid-50s temperatures in here by mid-week!

This system may slow down pre-Thanksgiving travel a bit but should be progressive, meaning the storm will keep moving out of here by later Wednesday, hopefully in time for a dry Thanksgiving.

However, there is an indication that a secondary storm may followed the warm frontal / cold frontal passage and bring some wet weather on Thursday, too, but for now most signals are for a dry forecast.

Beyond that and into next weekend, there are some colder and stormier signals, and that’s all I will say about that for now. In other words, stay weather aware.

I hope you have a great day, and would be grateful if you’d consider supporting my work through purchase of holiday gifts for yours or you before my 2025 Weather Nut Holiday Merch Sale ends Dec. 1st (links below). Thanks!
