TEMPS IN THE FREEZER TONIGHT AFTER A BLUSTERY DAY WITH CLEARING SKIES BEHIND OUR FRONT… A SUNNY WEEKEND LIES AHEAD WITH SUNDAY AS THE PICK DUE TO MILDER TEMPS… MONDAY LOOKS SUNNY
Good morning folks, we dealt with some drier air last night which tamped rainfall amounts down across the board. Our cold front is passed through the region, and now we’ll see cold air advection begin with northwest winds expected to gust 20-30mph at times today.
It’s mild this morning with temps in the low 50s in southern parts of WMass, CMass and northern CT colder air is already filling in across SVT and far northwest MA with temps in the 30s.
Temps may rise a few degrees into the mid-day, but generally temps will hang where they are or start to fall by afternoon under increasing sunshine.
Temps will really crash out tonight, bottoming out into the upper teens to mid 20s for most of us, and it’ll still be breezy so some wind chill in the teens is possible, especially in the high terrain.
Remember, if you’re at the Back Porch Fest tonight in Northampton I will be playing Lyman Hall tonight at 6pm sharp with my band and friends in King Radio, so please come to our set!
For Saturday, it’ll be cold with highs only in the 30s with some lingering breeziness and plenty of sunshine as high pressure pushes into the Ohio Valley, still driving northwest flow into our region, which pulls from a cold source region. We may see some isolated flurries or a few snow showers later in the day, but most of us should be dry.
Lows will again fall into the 20s so both weekend mornings will be cold starts!
On Sunday, that high pressure center will skedaddle east and into the western Atlantic Ocean to our south, which puts us in a southwesterly, milder flow of air.
This should help our temps rise well into the 40s for highs on Sunday with plenty of sunshine, so Sunday’s definitely the weekend pick! Lows will dip into the low to mid 30s.
By Monday, we’re going to be watching a gathering area of pre-frontal moisture develop over the Great Lakes, northern MS Valley, and western Ohio Valley, and that will slide east into Tuesday through Thursday, which will foist some level of unsettled conditions into our region during that timeframe, most likely.
Monday looks dry, though, and mild, with highs reaching the mid to upper 50s, so if you have that day off you’d have a lovely long weekend with 30s Saturday, 40s Sunday and 50s Monday, plus sunshine!
After that, though, we’ll be even milder with highs in 50s for Tuesday and then the 60s Wednesday and Thursday, but periods of showers will be around the region ahead of a cold front that probably comes through by Thursday.
I will parse out the details for you as we get closer, but that’s the weather story for now, my friends!
Have a great day!
