ABUNDANT NICENESS FOR OUR TUESDAY, WARMER… MILD / DRY WITH INCREASING CLOUDS WEDNESDAY… RAIN OVERNIGHT INTO THURSDAY AFTERNOON… COOLER CONDITIONS SET UP FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND

Good morning fine folks of the Golden West, as my Dad used to call it, the birds are chirping still, the Sun is shining, and the dew keeps forming – life sure is something else. As for our weather, we’ve got a couple more lovely days, especially THIS day, so let’s jump into the details.

For today, our upper ridge crests into the region placing directly between a coastal storm to our east, and our incoming Thursday storm to our west. What that means for us in the greater WMass region is light southeast flow and highs in the mid 60s to low 70s under sunny skies.

Lows tonight will dip into the mid 30s to low 40s, so we’ll still be dealing with chilly mornings.

For Wednesday, we start to transition into an unsettled and cooler period of weather, as the upper level pattern through the first half of May continues to access that deep, longstanding reservoir of cold air in Canada that developed over the Winter.

While many of us would love to spring into the mid 60s to mid 70s (not happening yet), at least we’re climatologically making progress: we’re almost receiving 14+ hours of daylight and we’re less than 2 months from the Summer Solstice!

But, it was a long, tough winter and after highs on Wednesday well into the 60s with clouds increasing, we’ll move into Wednesday night when rainfall is expected to reach the NY/CT-MA-VT border before midnight and then push through the rest of the greater WMass region with lows in the 40s.

Rainfall will continue through Thursday morning and taper off sometime by mid to late Thursday afternoon as a secondary low pulls the cold front northeast and out of here. Highs on Thursday will only reach the upper 40s to upper 50s with lows in the 30s.

The Friday through Sunday period looks mostly dry, but with an upper low overhead it will be cooler and could produce a mix of sun and clouds with a few showers possible by Saturday.

Highs will hang in the mid 40s to mid 50s for the most part with lows in the low to mid 30s through the period, so really enjoy today and tomorrow given the milder temps.

By early next week, we start off dry with temps rebounding up a bit by Monday, perhaps well into the 50s and touching 60º in a few spots.

By Tuesday, even milder temps are expected ahead of another cold front that may clash enough to produce showers and some thunderstorms as well by Tuesday evening.

Have a great day!
