SUNNIER AND MILDER TODAY/FRIDAY THRU SUNDAY… CLOUDS INCREASE INTO MONDAY WITH PERIODS OF NEEDED RAINFALL… A TUESDAY LULL BEGETS WEDNESDAY SHOWERS...
Good morning folks, we’ve got a trio of sweet days ahead with plenty of sunshine and temperatures that will be rising slowly today, tomorrow and peaking on Sunday before a cold front arrives and curbs back our temps while delivering some needed rainfall.
For today, high pressure will be cresting overhead, pushing in from the east. When this happens, winds lighten or go calm under higher atmospheric pressure, so we’ll enjoy a mostly sunny day with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s after a chilly start where temps ranged widely from the upper 20s to the low 40s.
For tonight, mostly clear skies are expected with chilly lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s as radiational cooling sets up and is optimized due clear skies, calm wind, and dry air.
For Saturday, we’ll warm up a bit as high pressure tracks more southeast and we become positioned on its back / west side. With clockwise circulation, that means increased southerly flow, so highs should reach the upper 50s to mid 60s under sunny skies with lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s.
By Sunday, an incoming cold front slated to push through Monday will press against departing high pressure, and help produce even warmer southerly flow with highs reaching the 65-70º range, and gusts of 20-30mph, especially by afternoon into the evening. Lows will hang in the upper 40s to mid 50s as clouds thicken up, and showers should arrive by early Monday morning.
As our front continues to sweep into the region on Monday, rainfall will increase and could fall heavily at times. Depending on how exactly the front sets up, some of us could see over an inch of rainfall by Tuesday morning. Regardless, Monday looks rainy, and highs should rise into the 60-65º range with lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s as we dry out a bit behind the front.
Tuesday looks to produce a few scattered showers under mixed skies with highs either side of 60º, but by Wednesday an even deeper upper level trough will push toward the eastern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley, potentially spawning a storm system and second bout of rain for the greater WMass region, so I will keep you updated on that piece.
There are even signals for more rain to end the week, so next week looks generally unsettled.
I hope things roll your way today.
