WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY CONTINUES FOR SVT FOR UPSLOPE SNOW SHOWERS TODAY… ISOLATED SNOW SHOWERS OR FLURRIES POSSIBLE FOR SWNH, WMASS, AND NORTHWEST CT TODAY…
Good morning folks, it sure took a long time to reach the ground last night in Hampshire County and Hampden County, as well as other adjacent southern parts of the greater WMass region. We also had mixed precipitation such as sleet, freezing rain, and even graupel reported, so it was a Precipitation Potpourri if you will, which is a lot of syllables so early in the morn! I apologize!
Going forward, we do have another weak wave for today that follows last night’s frontal passage which brought us our snow and mixed precip that accumulated anywhere between a coating on up to 4” of new snow on the ground.
For today, we’ll see some additional very light accumulations in parts of SVT where a Winter Weather Advisories is up through tonight due to expected upslope snow showers that are already developing in the southern Adirondacks and headed towards SVT and the northern Berkshires for starters.
Any of us could see a scattered snow shower or flurry today, but it is SVT and far northern Berkshires into western Franklin County that could see another coating to an inch or so by late tonight.
Otherwise, most of us will see partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows in the teens tonight with black ice possible each morning going forward for the foreseeable future as we get some snow melt each day, and refreeze each night through the weekend.
High pressure now positioned over the center of the country, with the high’s center over the Great Lakes will slowly track southeast towards the Carolina coast by end of the week. This will produce days and days of fairly seasonable high temps in the low to mid 30s (which is still a bit below seasonable averages) and lows in the teens with mostly dry weather throughout.
We may see a few snow showers late Friday night, but it looks like #NoBigWhoop type activity.
The weekend looks great as well, and then I will be watching a low potential for a snowstorm for Monday, that could start Monday morning. However, right now it’s more likely to stay south and out to sea, but it bears watching for now.
Have a great day, and if you value my work and want to support it through 2026, you can contribute at the link in the bottom of this post. Thank you so much, Dave.
