WINTER STORM WATCHES CONTINUE FOR MUCH OF THE REGION AS METEOROLOGICAL WINTER ARRIVES RIGHT ON TIME… WATCH FOR BLACK ICE EARLY THIS AM…
Good morning folks, the pressure gradient between yesterday’s area of low pressure and an incoming strong high pressure system is causing our northwest wind gusts today, and those will continue this morning in the 25-40mph range before slackening this afternoon.
We’ll enjoy a mostly sunny day with highs in the 30s, and radiational cooling will occur during the first part of tonight, helping to drop lows into the mid teens to low 20s to set us up for Tuesday morning’s snowfall.
We should be dry, overcast and quite cold early Tuesday morning, then snow will move in between 8am-11am from west to east. Now, this is an early season storm, happening during the peak mildness of the day, and some of us will get above freezing with highs in the low to mid 30s.
There’s not Arctic high to our north holding in cold air, and nothing to slow this system, so some mild air aloft will surge north, and my thought is that it could reach north to a line from about Holyoke through The Brookfields in SW Worcester County to Worcester, MA itself where a mix with or change to rain could occur by mid to late afternoon.
This would cut down snow accumulations along and south of the Pike east of Blandford/Becket.
North and west of there, we should see mostly if not all snow, especially in the Berkshires, western hilltowns, Franklin County and northern CMass up into SVT and SWNH.
Central and eastern Hampshire County is trickier, and probably will sit on the line with a potential for some rain mix there which would cut totals down.
For now, I am still going with 2-5” range for areas along and south of the Pike, whereas a widespread 4-8” is likely north of the Pike, along with a stripe of 6-10” possible in elevated areas of the northern Berkshires, Franklin County, northern CMass and southern parts of SVT/SWNH closer to the storm track.
Lastly, southern Litchfield County and the rest of northern CT may get vaporized and only see a coating to 2” if that warm line aloft really surges north, and if the storm stays colder, I still think some rain mix gets involved there, with 2-4” tops.

2025 Weather Nut Holiday Apparel Sale TONIGHT
(These clothes are cozy!)

Precipitation quits by midnight and pulls out to sea with lows dropping into the teens to low 20s.
Behind the storm, snow sticks around on the ground with partly to mostly sunny skies Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows in the teens to low 20s, so the cold is sticking around folks!
We could see some scattered snow showers with a cold frontal passage Thursday prior to the most frigid air being delivered to our region arrives late Thursday night into Friday with lows in the single digits and highs Friday in the 20s!
The weekend looks mixed with some fair weather and inclement potential with highs near freezing, but I will get to that later and refine it – for now, I am focused on tomorrow’s winter storm, and I will keep you updated.
Have a great day, and remember my 2025 Holiday Merch Sale ends ToNiGhT, so get some cozy and warm awesome apparel for you and yours this season at this link, thanks!
