SNOW SHOWERS END BY MID TO LATE MORNING WITH AFTERNOON SUNSHINE AND EVENING SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS AS OUR ARCTIC FRONT SWEEPS THE REGION… WESTERLY GUSTS LATER TONIGHT THROUGH TUES.

Good morning everybody, well it certainly looks and feels a lot more wintry than it did before this weekend, and I think it’s safe to say that our January Thaw has left the building stage right! We do have some lingering snow showers and flurries this morning, so be alert to slick travel with any fresh coatings, with snow showers expected to wind down by mid to late morning.

Sunshine will develop later this afternoon with highs climbing into the upper 20s to low 30s ahead of an incoming cold front which will bring another round of scattered snow showers by early evening, and I can’t rule out a snow squall that could provide isolated fresh dustings or coatings in some areas.

Lows will crash into the upper single digits to mid-teens, and westerly winds will pick up and gust 20-30mph at times later tonight and especially on Tuesday into Tuesday night.

Fair but cold weather settles in Tuesday with sunshine and highs only reaching the upper teens to low 20s as high pressure pushes into the region. Lows will way down in the single digits, with below zero wind chills possible late Tuesday night.

Wednesday will feature high pressure continuing to track south of us, which positions us into a southwest, “milder” flow which translates to highs in the mid to upper 20s on Wednesday – not very mild, I would say!

Clouds will then increase at night as a brief warm front pushes toward the region draped southward off of a weak Clipper low that will pass to our north by Thursday.

This will bring some scattered snow showers through the region Wednesday night into Thursday morning with lows Wednesday night in the low to mid 20s, and highs Thursday cresting into the 35-40º range.

Another cold front sweeps through Thursday night with lows in the teens and highs Friday under sunny skies only reaching the low to mid 20s.

By the weekend a reinforcing shot of Arctic air may be possible, along with a chance at another snowstorm, but it’s a long way off so I will just keep watch on it and update you as we get closer.

In the meantime, welcome back to Winter, have a great day, and Happy MLK Day to all.
