PATCHY FOG EARLY, ISOLATED SHOWERS LATER, OTHERWISE FAIR WEATHER BUILDS THROUGH SUNDAY… INCLEMENT WEATHER RETURNS SUNDAY EVENING INTO & THRU MONDAY WITH RAIN… WARMER MID NEXT WEEK
Good morning folks, we’ve got some patchy out there and some is locally on the denser side, but that will be burning off as temps come up into the mid morning period or so, leaving us with a mostly dry and partially sunny day with a few isolated showers hither and thither later this afternoon. Got weekend plans? Saturday into Sunday morning looks like your timeframe for outdoorsy stuff – let’s jump into the details.
For today, our upper level trough (i.e. the area of lower than average pressures aloft that helped spawn our heavy rain event) is pushing east yet positions a modicum of influence over our little neck of southwestern New England. This means that while patchy fog will burn off, and partial sunshine will develop, and temps will warm into the upper 70s to mid 80s, a few isolated showers are likely to pop in the afternoon here and there.
Any activity will dissipate at night, and lows will drop into the upper 50s to low 60s with patchy fog developing late and into early Saturday morning.
The weekend pick in terms of a single day is definitely Saturday with highs reaching the low to mid 80s under partly sunny skies and no showers expected. Lows will dip to the low to mid 60s, which will set us up for a Sunday that will likely start off dry with some early (albeit partial) sunshine, followed by increasing clouds and showers by evening.
Highs Sunday will climb into the low to mid 80s as skies gray out with time, which will happen due to an incoming cold front as low pressure begins to track into northern NY.
By sometime in the afternoon or perhaps evening, periods of showers will develop ahead of the front and bring some more rain to our region for Sunday night into Monday. Lows will drop to the low to mid 60s.
How long this lasts on Monday is uncertain, but for now I would expect at least Monday morning to be showery, and that may extend into the evening with thunder also possible. Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s with lows near 60º.
By Tuesday, any morning showers should give way to at least some partial sunshine, with a fair weather period possible for Tuesday through Thursday as temps warm into the low to mid 80s given high pressure setting up over the western Atlantic Ocean. This will create southwest, warmer flow into New England, prior to more showers possible for a week from today (next Friday).
Have a great day!
