RAINY TUESDAY MORNING, HEAVY AT TIMES, TAPERING OFF BY MID AFTERNOON… DRIZZLE PATCHES OF ISOLATED SHOWERS TONIGHT INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY… HEAVIER RAINFALL RESUMES LATE WEDNESDAY NITE
Good morning folks, we’ve got a rainy Tuesday morning underway with heavy rain pushing through the northern Berkshires into the northwest hillitowns around the 7am hour. Periods of showers of varying intensity last this morning, and by early to mid-afternoon they should decrease, leading to drizzle patches or isolated showers at times late today and tonight.
High temps will hang in the mid 60s to mid 70s today and some spots may see either side of an inch of rain where the heaviest showers pass through, with less I other areas. I am not expecting much in the way of thunder, assuming our currently-stalled front stays to our west, though a thunderstorm can’t be ruled out in Litchfield County CT.
For tonight, lows will drop into the mid to upper 50s with a bit of drizzle or a few isolated showers here or there.
Wednesday may start with some patchy fog and will likely be drier especially east of the I-91 corridor, as high pressure near Atlantic Canada exerts some drying influence into CMass, northeast CT and nearby border areas of the eastern sections of WMass and SWNH.
I still can’t rule out an isolated shower or two, and highs will climb into the mid 60s to mid 70s under mostly cloudy skies, with lows dipping to either side of 60º as clouds thicken with a more robust area of heavier rainfall approaching the region.
Rain resumes late Wednesday night into Thursday, and if our stalled front is able to track through the region, we could open ourselves up to a thunderstorm threat on Thursday with more unstable air, but I will update you on that as we get closer.
Thursday highs would reach the low 70s to low 80s if the front makes it through with showers tapering off by Thursday night, with lows once again dropping to either side of 60º.
Behind that departed second wave of rain for this work week, Friday looks to feature incoming high pressure and drying conditions. Increasing sunshine should develop on Friday with highs reaching the low 70s to low 80s with lows dropping into the 50s as cooler, drier air settles in for Labor Day Weekend.
Speaking of which, our end-of-summah holiday weekend looks lovely at the moment. Yes, a spot shower is possible at times (especially Monday), but for now it looks like high pressure from the north will rule our roost and provide highs in the 60s and 70s with light northerly wind, and lows in the upper 40s to 50s during the nights.
Have a great day!
