SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS, SOME BRIEFLY HEAVY, MIX WITH RAIN AND/OR GRAUPEL TOWARDS MID-DAY AND INTO AFTERNOON… AREAS OF A COATING TO 2” OF ACCUMULATION ON GRASSY SURFACES...

Good morning everybody, we’ve got scattered snow showers of varying intensity out there this morning with some of us seeing nothing and others seeing heavy snow at times, with some reports of whitened roads in SVT and possibly far northwest MA where steadier activity has setup.

As our shortwave moves through today, this activity will continue off and on, with breaks of sunshine, and also a mix with graupel and/or rainfall later as temps warm into the upper 30s to upper 40s.

Scattered grassy coatings will be possible, especially north of the Pike and in the higher elevations, with up to an inch or two possible in the northern Berkshires, northwest hiltowns and especially SVT.
This wave sweeps through this afternoon, and activity should die down with some isolated snow or rain showers leftover by mid to late afternoon, with northwest winds picking up and gusting 25-40mph as our late-winter system pulls away.

Lows will crash into the upper teens to mid 20s tonight with wind dying down late, and clearing developing.

For Wednesday and Thursday we’ll see strong high pressure building in from the west, which will produce abundant sunshine and mildening temps, with highs in the 40s on Wednesday (lows upper 20s), and then in the low to mid 50s for Thursday (lows mid 30s), followed by highs in the mid 60s by Friday!

We may see a few showers Friday night with a weak front moving through, but even more sunshine is expected this weekend into early next week as Spring surges harder after today’s and tonight’s late and light wintry impacts.

Still, watch for briefly heavy snow in spots today which could lower visibility quickly like a snow squall, as some of these may include gusty winds in any heavy snow showers.

–Northwest winds gust 25-40mph later this afternoon as the shortwave passes through the region
