BREEZY TODAY, RAINY TUESDAY EVENING, VERY MILD WEDNESDAY, BLUSTERY/COLDER THANKSGIVING DAY INTO SATURDAY WITH BERKSHIRE LAKE EFFECT FLURRIES FRIDAY…

Good morning folks, to start off today I wanted to remind everybody that the March for the WMass Food Bank starts today down in Springfield, ending in Northampton and then walks from Northampton to Greenfield tomorrow on Tuesday. I keep this page to the weather 99% of the time, but I donate every year to this effort to end hunger in our region, and Monte Belmonte started this effort 16 years ago and is at the center of it every year.

If you want to kick in a few bucks to help your neighbors who are struggling (which could be any of us any time), just go to the following website for more info on who to give and participate.

As for our weather, the Food Bank March will be supported today as high pressure builds into the region from the south, helping dry us out from overnight mixed showers of snow, icing and rain/drizzle. Highs will crest into the mid 30s to mid 40s from the high terrain to valley locations, and a partly to mostly sunny day looks likely to develop. Breezy northwest winds gusting to 25mph today will slacken tonight with lows in the mid 20s.

For Tuesday, clouds will be on the increase as our high pressure tracks east and makes way for a warm front to approach the region. Highs will be in the mid 40s to low 50s with breezy southerly gusts and rainfall moving in between 4pm-8pm from southwest to northeast. We should see about a quarter to half inch of rainfall Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning with mild Tuesday night lows in the mid 30s to low 40s.

This will set us up for a very mild Wednesday with highs spiking into the 55-60º range as we become fully contained within the warm sector. As such, a few isolated showers during the day are possible, and by the evening a cold front will be pressing eastward which will help focus some more showers overnight into early Thanksgiving Day morning with Wed. night lows bottoming out into the upper 20s to mid 30s as the wind kicks around to the west.

Thanksgiving Day looks like a drying day but a colder one with highs in the mid 30s to mid 40s and blustery westerly winds gusting up to 35mph at times. Lows will bottom out in the mid to upper 20s with windy conditions continuing, and by late Thursday night into Friday some lake effect snow showers will potentially develop into the Taconics, Berkshires, Litchfield Hills, SVT and our western hilltowns.

It will be cold Friday and Saturday with highs only reaching the upper 20s to upper 30s and lows in the upper teens to mid 20s with sunny skies and partly cloudy nights expected.

By Sunday, we should be seeing a slight rebound in temperatures back up into the mid 30s to mid 40s for highs as we cloud back up, waiting for another system to bring more rainfall and possible high-terrain mix for Sunday night into early Monday.

Have a great day!
