SNOW BURST THIS MORNING CAUSES SLICK TRAVEL EARLY… SNOW SHOWERS OR A SQUALL ARRIVES THIS EVENING… WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UP FOR BENNINGTON COUNTY VT… 1-3” FOR MOST, MORE SVT....

Good morning folks, snow has arrived into the WMass region and it’s snowing steadily, and may burst heavy at times, so give yourself extra time with any travel this morning if you have to head out and about as roads will be slick with snow falling into very cold surface temps in the upper single digits and teens!

This will last until about late morning, and I do have a bit of concern about a heavier burst as it pulls away by mid to late morning down north-central and northeast CT up into eastern Hampden County and CMass south of the Rt. 2 corridor, so between 8:30am-11:30am be mindful if you’re in that area.

Behind the front by mid day, it will warm up into the 30s with some peeks of sunshine late, but another cold front is on the way on the heels of this warm frontal boundary.

During this evening, say 8pm to midnight more scattered snow showers should swing through, and I cannot rule out a snow squall or two, which may coat the ground in spots.

Because of these snow squall potential which is likely more prominent in SVT, a Winter Weather Advisory is up for Bennington County, VT, as between this morning’s snow and any snow showers/squalls up to 5” of new snow is possible by Thursday morning.

Lows will drop into the low 20s tonight, and we’ll dry out behind the front with Thursday highs climbing into the upper 20s to mid 30s under developing sunshine. Lows will dip into the teens.

Friday and Saturday will get milder and milder, with highs well into the 30s Friday under mostly sunny skies, with temps cresting into the low to mid 40s by Saturday!

The weekend looks to feature partly to mostly sunny skies with Saturday being the weekend pick given the milder temps.

An Arctic cold front will swing through sometime on Sunday and hold temps down into the low to mid 30s for highs, with lows expected to fall back into the teens by early Monday morning.

The first half of next week looks cold, with the heart of that cold moving through the region Monday and Monday night with highs in the upper teens to mid 20s, and lows only in the single digits.

In addition, I will be watching a storm developing along a temperature boundary clash with Arctic cold to the north and mild air to the south, which will push said storm into the Ohio Valley by Monday.

So by anytime between Monday night and Wednesday morning we may have more accumulating snow on the way with one or possibly two systems, but it’s too early to talk about it anymore than that, but I’ll keep you updated as we move into the later Winter season.

Have a great day, take it easy on the roads this morning!
