HAPPY NEW YEAR'S FORECAST...
Good morning everybody, and Happy New Year to all! This is a super brief post for the day to say that snow showers and squalls are moving east-southeast through the area this early morning, heaviest in northwest CT, north-central CT, the southern Berkshires and Hampden County from Springfield westward.
Heavy snow, gusty winds, lowered visibility, and slick road conditions are all possible.
Our light system winds down this morning as the cold front sweeps the region and snow cuts off east of I-91 by mid-morning.
Westerly winds will pick up and gust 25-40mph at times with high temps being experienced this morning in the upper 20s to near 30º, and falling back into the teens by sunset with wind chills down to near 0º and the single digits at times.
It’ll be partly sunny today, and for tonight lows will crash into the single digits, so a very blustery and cold first day of 2026 is on the way.
For Friday, highs will reach the low to mid 20s, and cold and fair weather is expected through the weekend and into Monday with some snow showers possible again by Monday night.
Have a great, peaceful, and relaxing New Year’s Day!
