Weather Nut Update

December 10, 2025

5:46 pm

WIND ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN HOISTED FOR BERKSHIRE COUNTY, THE WESTERN HILLTOWNS, AND NORTHERN CENTRAL MA FOR THURSDAY INTO THURSDAY NIGHT... GUSTS TO 50MPH POSSIBLE...

Good evening everybody, please remember that this is a cold front moving through the region, so temps are expected to drop into the 20s region-wide (with some upper teens in SVT) by the early pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning.

Despite wind picking up out of the west and west-northwest behind the front in the early morning, temps will likely come down fast enough to freeze up standing water from rain, mix and wet snow so be alert to black ice and slick conditions when you are out late tonight or early Thursday morning.

Snow and rain will end before midnight but additional accumulation will be laid down in high terrain areas before the precip quits. My snow amounts from this morning are below, so we’ll see how things turn out by tomorrow morning.

SNOW AMOUNTS: A coating to 2” of snow is expected in N. Litchfield, southern Berkshires, western hilltowns, northern CMass and SWNH. 2-5” is expected in the central and northern Berkshires / Taconics into much of SVT, with 5-10” in the spine of the southern Greens.

I did mention we could see some snow/mix with coatings or slush from about Greenfield northward into the CT River Valley between SVT & SWNH with an inch or two up that way, and while I didn’t define it properly earlier, that would apply to eastern Franklin County highlands that abut northern CMass.

A few snow showers are possible Thursday morning and especially in the afternoon, but I don’t expect a longstanding upslope or lake effect snow event to set up.

The wind is the big story tomorrow and tomorrow night with high temps either side of 30º earlier, then falling through the 20s in the afternoon, with wind chills down into the teens — it’s gonna be cold and blustery tomorrow, so be sure to listen to Archie Bunker The Weatherman when he says “WOULD YOU BUNDLE IT!” ;-)

Lows will dip into the teens tomorrow night with wind continuing so wind chills probably dive below zero at times by early Friday morning.

I will update again with a full report tomorrow morning at the latest, and we still have the potential for some light accumulating snow Saturday night into Sunday, especially along and south of the Pike.

Have a great night and please post your weather conditions below, thank you!
