GORGEOUS END TO TODAY THEN HUMIDITY RETURNS THURSDAY WITH SCATTERED DOWNPOURS, T-STORMS AND SHOWERS BY LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING… FRIDAY A.M. SHOWERS GIVES WAY TO DRYING FRI. EVE

Good afternoon folks, we’ve been enjoying a lovely Wednesday today, and that will continue through tonight prior to a surge in humidity by Thursday afternoon and evening thanks to a warm frontal passage which should help set the stage for scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms by Thursday late afternoon and evening.

For this afternoon and evening, we’ll continue to enjoy partly sunny skies with temps dipping back down into the mid 50s to low 60s overnight with low humidity.

On Thursday morning, a warm front will be tracking northeast towards our region, and should push through by mid-day or early afternoon.

Highs are expected to reach the mid 70s to low 80s with humidity increasing behind the warm front as the afternoon wears on.

Assuming we have enough in the way of sunny breaks along with a warm front that passes on the earlier side vs. a bit later in the afternoon, we should enter that warmer, muggier pre-frontal zone between the warm front and cold front (an instability wedge, of sorts) in time for the lower atmosphere to destabilize.

This would likely help spawn some clusters of showers and downpours, or a couple of thunderstorms.

Any storms that form could become strong to severe and produce localized strong wind gusts, street flooding and even hail. I can’t rule out a rotating storm either, so while highly unlikely, quick spin-up could be possible, especially in the central / southern Berkshires, western Hampden County and down into northwest CT in the late afternoon and early evening timeframe.

As the cold front moves through Thursday night, this would likely both produce more showers as well as prevent our ability to view the mostly-full Lunar Eclipse that will pass overhead late tomorrow night. Thursday night lows will drop into the upper 50s to mid 60s.

A secondary low may develop and track along the eastward-passing cold front into Friday morning which could produce some more scattered shower activity into mid-day before we dry out into Friday night and Saturday.

Highs Friday will reach the mid 70s to low 80s with lows in the 50s as much drier air comes into the region.

Saturday will be the weekend pick for sure with sunshine and highs reaching the 70s for highs and 50s for lows with dry air in place.

Sunday may be a touch warmer, and could feature some showers by late in the day or overnight, but we should start off sunny.

Temps should be coming up next week with highs in the 80s, and possibly into the low 90s for some by the middle of next week!

Have a great rest of your day and evening!
