Weather Nut Update

AN ISOLATED STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM MAY FORM LATE THIS AFTERNOON ALONG/SOUTH OF THE PIKE...
Good afternoon folks, we’re seeing temps in SVT, SWNH, central/northern Berkshires, and northwest hilltowns in the 60s to low 70s with mid 70s to low 80s in the southern Berkshires, northern CT and much of the Pioneer Valley east into CMass.
These temps are found under a mix of sun and clouds today, with more sunshine likely to develop by mid afternoon or so.
Assuming this additional sunshine plays out, our temps will rise a bit more and we’ll be developing a more unstable atmosphere by later afternoon toward dinner time, with a weaker disturbance moving into the region.
With “CAPE” values potentially above 1500J/kg, that level of instability could help pop an isolated strong to severer thunderstorm roughly between 4-8pm, with the best chance being along and south of the Pike.
Most of us will stay dry, but I will keep an eye on things and update you later this afternoon. In addition, I’ll have some more info on a stronger wave moving through overnight which should bring some heavier rainfall for a time for some of us.
Have a great rest of your afternoon, Dave.
