SUNSHINE AND WARMER INTO MID-WEEK WITH SHOWERS BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON… COOLER/DRIER FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY WITH SHOWERS PROBABLE SUNDAY, BUT SOME UNCERTAINTY REMAINS… MORE SHOWERS TUE
Good mid-day folks, it was certainly chilly this morning with lows in the upper 30s in parts of our region, notably 37º in Wilmington, VT and 38º in Cummington, MA. What did you see on your thermometer this morning? Going forward, we’ve got chances for showers Thursday afternoon / night, Sunday, and again on Tuesday, so I will be updating as the days come and go to help better refine timing, most impacted locations, amounts, etc., even though none of these looks like prolific rain makers at the moment.
For today and Wednesday, sunshine abounds with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s today, lows tonight in the upper 40s to low 50s, followed by highs Wednesday in the mid to upper 70s and then lows in the mid to upper 50s with clouds increasing overnight.
By Thursday morning, I will be following an incoming frontal boundary that should push some showers into our region, especially north of what I am now calling “South Southern New England” (SSNE) which is comprised of CT, RI and southeast MA (I’m not really calling it that, but it’s fun to make up stuff, and I reserve the right to be silly at any time, that’s my disclaimer of the day!)
Highs could warm into the low 70s to low 80s with periods of showers expected by the afternoon, which will then be followed by a cold front pushing through the region by Friday morning, so expect a few showers Thursday night as well with mild lows in the low 60s.
Friday we’ll become increasingly sunny with highs well into the 70s, and drier air moving into the region, such that by Friday night lows will drop into the mid 40s to low 50s followed by a sunny but cooler Saturday with highs only in the mid 60s to low 70s.
Saturday looks like the weekend pick at the moment, as Sunday holds the potential for showers, but there is still some uncertainty as to how incoming Canadian high pressure shapes up and either allows low pressure into the region or suppresses it to our southwest, so I will update that portion of the forecast as we get closer.
Beyond that, Monday looks sunnier with more showers possible by early next week. I will keep you updated on all the trends and I hope you have a great rest of your day!
