LIGHTER RAIN SHOWERS AND DRIZZLE THIS MORNING WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS OF VARYING INTENSITY LATER AND BREEZY TODAY AND TONIGHT…

Good morning folks, we’re starting off in the 40s and low 50s today with a recent wind gust of 38mph in Otis, MA in the southern Berkshires (a/k/a “South County”, much like western Franklin County is “West County”). It’s the high terrain areas that should see the stronger gusts during our Monday, generally 20-35mph across the region as peak gusts up to 45mph were reached overnight.

For today, our rain shield has broken up overnight and so after a soaking rain for many of us (except for northwestern parts of the greater WMass region) we will see drizzle, dry spots, or light showers for much of this morning, with scattered showers of varying intensity regenerating and tracking NNW as our weak coastal low sits and spins just east of the DelMarVa Peninsula.

This is not a classic, strong nor’easter, but it still classifies nonetheless, and it will stall and wobble today and tonight before being pushed east and out to sea on Tuesday.

Highs today reach the upper 40s to mid 50s, and it will be damp, breezy, and showery at times, so a raw day is anticipated. Lows tonight with continued intermittent activity (generally light) will drop to the mid to upper 40s with breezy (and at times, gusty) conditions.

For Tuesday, our storm finally kicks off the east, but we’ll still see a mostly cloudy day with a few morning showers, and highs reaching to either side of 60º. Northerly breezes are expected, and we should be drying by nighttime with lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

We then enter into a period of fair weather from Wednesday through Sunday with partly to mostly sunny skies and changeable temperatures.

Wednesday looks pleasant enough with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, and lows in the 40s, followed by a dry cold frontal passage that will knock temps back down into the mid 40s to mid 50s for highs on Thursday with blustery northerly gusts of 20-35mph at times. Lows will plummet into the upper 20s to mid 30s Thursday night with highs hitting the mid to upper 50s on Friday.

Over the weekend, an upper trough shifts east and out to sea, and we’ll see a bit of a ridge moving into our region, which will help boost temps into the low to mid 60s on Saturday, and then the upper 60s to mid 70s on Sunday for a day!

After that, a strong cold front should bring more showery conditions by Monday, but I will update on that as we get closer.

I hope you have a great day on this gloomy Monday!
