————————————————–

Good morning everybody, we’ve got a chilly start out there with temps in the mid 20s to low 30s. Frost has become our daily companion recently, and with the coldest air of the season arriving by late this week into the weekend, we certainly can expect more ice crystals on our lawns going forward.

SUMMARY
–We start with sunshine and transition to increasing clouds as a warm front approaches the region
–Highs will rise to the upper 40s to low 50s by afternoon
–Lows will drop to near 40 degrees, perhaps a bit below in the upper 30s
–Clouds fill in tonight, and a few showers are possible during the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning
–Expect some scattered showers on Tuesday, with bulk of activity in the afternoon
–It will be the mildest day of the next 10, with highs in the low to mid 50s. That’s about it, folks. Then, we drop.
–Lows Tuesday night will be in the low to mid 30s as we start to clear out
–Behind a cold front, Wednesday is mostly sunny but a bit blustery with highs in the low to mid 40s and west winds gusting to 25mph at ties
–Cold Wednesday night with lows in the low 30s
–Then all eyes turn to Thursday night into Friday
–Thursday will start off partly sunny but then cloud up with highs in the 40s, which will drop later in the day and especially at night
–We watch to see if low pressure can get out ahead of the incoming trough and cold front
–It will be a progressive system either way, which means that nothing is in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean to block it or slow it down
–Still, if this storm can get to the Mid-Atlantic coast, to the southeast of the incoming cold air, we could see rain showers changing to snow Thursday night and lasting into Friday morning
–If this scenario plays out, we are talking about a plowable snowfall for folks in the Berkshires, southern VT, the western hilltowns, and possibly even in the valley, given that the precip would arrive at night, allowing for snow to better stick so early in the season and with a warmer ground still
–Lots to parse out, but it’s worth keeping an eye on for sure, which I will most certainly do
–Either way, any precip of any form quits by Friday noon, and just completely yanks in the coldest air of the season with highs ONLY in the low to mid 30s Friday and Saturday and with lows in the upper teens to low 20s!
–The weekend looks mostly sunny at the moment, and we could moderate a touch on Sunday with highs “rising back up” into the low 40s
–Then, ANOTHER wintry system is possible early next week, and that one could be more substantial than our late-week system, given that it would be a coastal runner and pass along or southeast of Nantucket
–It could be a legit Nor’easter, with snow, wind, rain and cold

My friends, please stay glued to this page, and keep the cold weather gear at the ready. Have a great day!
