Good morning everybody, thank you ALL for such lovely birthday wishes yesterday. I am humbled and blessed by all of your kindnesses and well wishes. It was a truly wonderful day, and probably the best birthday I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of birthdays (HINT: I’m old, lol).

As it stands, the Bulletization Mobile(TM) just pulled up outside on the street and is just pounding the daylights out of the horn.
So as not to get my neighbors pissed at me, I’m going to comply, hop in, and shower you with double-dashes galore. Look out below!
SUMMARY
–Clouds will overspread the region this morning
–A very progressive, flat system will glide ENE through the region today and tonight
–Because of how little amplification this system is exhibiting (meaning, there is no N-S orientation to this storm, it’s basically just a frontal boundary with a weak disturbance riding along it), it will be a fast mover, and we won’t get a lot of snow production out of it
–Highs today will reach the mid to upper 40s, and rain will move into the region after the noon hour, earlier to the west, later to the east
–Rain should generally be light to moderate and southwest winds may gust 15-20mph at times
–As colder air presses southeast on the back side of this system, rain should mix with and change to snow in the high terrain of southern VT between 4-6pm, especially above 2500 feet
–The back side of the precip shield will be out of here between 10pm and 1am from west to east
–It will be race between the cold air and the departing precip to see how much snow we can squeeze out of this setup
–I still think 1-4″ is a good bet in the high terrain of southern VT, the northern Taconics, northern Berkshires and western Franklin County and northwestern Hampshire County.
–Otherwise a coating to an 1″ or so should do it for the rest of the region (central/southern Berkshires, Litchfields, southern/central Taconics, southwest NH, rest of WMass, CMass, with little to none in northern CT)
–Any accumulations below 1500 feet will tend to be on grassy surfaces
–It goes without saying (but I’ll say it anyway) that even if there is a coating of snow on road ways for the first time in a new cold season, be extra careful, as you and others are out of practice driving on it so just take it easy
–Lows will drop into the low to mid 20s, brrrrrr
–The next race is between increasing northwest wind gusts to 30mph or so tomorrow, and the cessation of precip tonight
–If the wind takes a bit to get in here, the better chance for #BlackIce to cause a few slippery spots, so watch for that when traveling in the pre-dawn into early Friday morning hours
–Friday is blustery, cold, fair and windy. Highs will be in the low to mid 30s under mostly sunny skies, and winds will gust to 30mph at times, putting wind chills in the high teens to 20s
–The coldest night of the season arrives Friday night with lows in the mid to upper TEENS by dawn on Saturday…. hard freeze
–High pressure builds through Saturday with mostly sunny skies, and continued cold conditions with highs in the 35-40 degree range, and lows in the 20s
–Sunday will see said high scoot east, and return a southerly flow, driving temps into the 45-50 degree range, which is more seasonable.
–Skies will be partly sunny, and lows will be in the 30s
–Then we turn to the Monday through Wednesday time frame, before even colder air arrives Wednesday into Thursday
–The Mon-Wed timeframe looks to feature a strong upper low and trough that will driving southeast out of Canada, and then positioning and delivering a serious dose of Arctic air into New England
–Once again, the exact elements of the trough, cold front, Gulf/Atlantic moisture, and a couple of disturbances could potentially produce accumulating snowfall in parts or all of our region during this time frame, especially Monday night into Tuesday
–Much uncertainty remains, so please stay tuned and I will keep you all updated
–One thing seems for sure: it’s going to get very cold on the back side of however these systems shake out
