Good morning everybody, it’s hard to believe 2020 is ending tonight. It was a year of great adversity, to be sure.

I wish you must Health, Happiness and Good Fortune in 2021, and I thank you again for following my weather musings for another year.

It’s hard to believe that by this coming Summer I will have been doing this for an entire decade.

I couldn’t have done it without you, so thank you!

SUMMARY
–The bulk of our rain has shipped east of here.
–A few additional rain or snow showers are possible as the front clears the region south and east
–A west wind gusting to 20mph or so will develop later, especially in the high elevations
–Highs will reach the 35-40º range, then fall in the afternoon
–Skies will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy, then break up more tonight with lows diving into the upper teens, quite cold!
–New Year’s Day is mostly sunny earlier on, then clouds will increase later in the afternoon and evening
–Highs will reach the mid to upper 30s
–Another storm will track northeast into the eastern Great Lakes, but a secondary storm will develop off of the Mid-Atlantic coast and track south of us
–This will help to draw colder air into the region, and preserve it for longer than this morning’s system
–Snow and sleet should break out across the region before midnight New Year’s Night, as lows drop into the upper 20s to low 30s
–This will then mix with freezing rain, with plain rain possible in the southern Pioneer Valley down into north-central CT
–Light snow/sleet accumulations of a coating to 2″ is possible before a change to ice/rain Saturday morning
–Showers could last well into Saturday morning, with drying under mostly cloudy skies during the afternoon
–Highs will reach the upper 30s to low 40s with lows in the mid to upper 20s
–Sunday into early Monday is uncertain still, as we have to see how this next system affects the streamflow to follow
–However, more snow and ice is possible Sunday night into Monday, and it could be accumulating wet snow for some high terrain areas, so stay tuned for updates
–The first half of next week looks seasonable with highs in the 35-40º range and partly sunny skies after the Sunday/Monday system ships out of here

Have a great day, be safe tonight if you happen to be out, and Happy New Year to you all!
